Hi all! I’m new here and just starting to try and exercise. I used to be very active before 2015 but then I became very ill. Nobody knew what was wrong with me. Since then, I’ve basically had to change my entire life because of how debilitating these illnesses are. I miss being able to be very active. Right now, I’m pretty limited in what exercises I can do. It has to be light and not too intense. I’m starting yoga next week, so there’s something.

If there are any other spoonies around in need of support, I’m here!

I hear ya! I was in tons of pain for a long time and doctors couldn’t find anything. I couldn’t work out without being in pain and always felt crappy. It definitely took small steps until I could take bigger ones. I still have bad days but trying to overcome them. Feel free to add! Always needing more motivational friends :)

hiya, found your messages and agreed so much with how it feels to be ill , i,ve finally admitted defeat and left a job i loved to retire on ill health grounds, drugs and pain can really bring me down and losing weight seems like another punishment denying me the things i enjoy ( cakes, biscuits etc) began calorie counting 4 days ago so hoping to see a difference as I gained two stone over the last year due to sitting resting! life can be so frustrating but logging what I am eating is a great strategy for being truthful about what i have put in my mouth ( no kidding yourself) any ideas for light snacks that don't include vegetables would be appreciate 100 calories or less?

I hear you. I started out with my sickness, only doing what I can manage. So if I was on bed rest, I would do 5 minutes of stretching in bed. I found it helps my pain. Then I just kept adding exercise, listening to my body and doing only what I can manage.

Now, when I’m on bed rest, I still do that, and I also eat within my calories and I still lose weight.
