Mommas losing weight with young children

I had my child a year ago. I gained about 20 pounds with that. Now I have noticed as stress goes up with my job.. so does my scale. I am attempting to get back down to at least 150. It is just so difficult for me to muster the energy after working all day (Walmart lawn and garden dept. manager) and coming home to a loving child that sticks to me like glue. Anyone have any suggestions?

when my kids were little i got back in shape doing step aerobics with a step in the living room. just give them some toys and they can watch you work out. no machinery they might get caught up on and if you have to stop for a sec to attend to them it's no big deal.

80% of weight loss is what you eat, 20% is what you do. Plan your meals, take your lunch, log every bite, keep your calories in a deficit and you’ll make it happen.

On work days, it helps me significantly if I have dinner in the crock pot ready to go when I get home, or at least have a quick to implement dinner ready to throw together.

Before I shop for the week, I write up dinners for my work days. The list goes on the fridge and I pull whatever sounds good that day am needed.

I have two kids- they are 4 and 6 now, but I started all of this when my youngest was about 6 months.

I have a little home gym set up in my basement- it's next to their playroom- and now they just kind of do their own thing. When they were still very little I would turn a show on for them and have a couple toys in the room so I could keep an eye on them.

Meal planning helps me a ton- I make a list, stick to it and know what I am going to make when so I am not trying to figure stuff out when I am tired and sore.

And if your kid is attached to you- involve them! My oldest usually does yoga with me, and my little guy has ended up enjoying cooking so much that last year he got his own cooking set for Christmas. He's 4 and can pretty much make eggs by himself start to finish. Plus he pretty much eats anything he helps make!

Really, once they get used to the routine it just becomes something they are used to you doing. Mine know that when Mom is working out they stay off my mat, watch for weights, and wait to ask for snacks until my timer goes off!
  • High intensity interval workouts. Cram the most out of ten minutes a day. Or look for gyms with a child care center.
You’d be surprised how much your kids will
Enjoy watching you doing burpees in the living room.
