I need to lose about 100 pounds but just trying for five pounds first. I also stopped smoking Jan first, but haven't gained weight, just stayed the same.

    Welcome Liz and great job on quitting smoking! Aiming to lose 5 pounds first is a great start, you are setting small goals which are easy enough obtain. Just don't be too hard on yourself because don't forget you've given up smoking so your body is already stressed from that. Good luck. :)

    Way to go best thing you could of done. You can do this!!!! I had 120 lbs to lose when I started and have already lost 25 lbs since Nobemver 2017 . You can do this little by little you will see results. Just keep your food diary updated and you will see result. I'll add you also for Motivation :)

    Yay for committing to a healthier life! Remember the weight didn't come on over night and neither will it come off over night. Things like this take time. Just keep plugging along at it.

    Hi Liz! You will love MFP it is a great community. Everyone is so nice and it keeps you motivated. It is important because I find the weight doesn't come off as fast as I would like...and I need the support. Good Luck on your journey. Keep at it and yes, 5 lbs at a time is a good way to look at it. I also have a 100 lbs to lose and when I think about 100 lbs I am overwhelmed. I actually take it one pound at a time and one day at a time.
