Hi I currently attend a slimming world group have lost 13.5 lb so far , but I’m getting a little boared as some foods are restricted , just wondering what other people’s opinions are on calorie counting ? Do you find it easy to stick to ? How much weight have you lost ? Just looking for some advice , don’t want to keep paying for sw group if I’m not getting much out of it if that makes sense ? Thank you if you read this xxx

Some people come in here just to bash calorie counting :D but I think it's a good method to lose weight. I would never pay to eat less :# Well, I have bought some diet books. But I'm not good with restrictions either. Couldn't even follow a plan that just suggested what foods to eat, for very long. I lost fifty pounds in a little over a year, twice. But MFP fixed my relationship with food and made maintenance possible.

I have to second this, restricting anything just makes me want it more.

I've lost around 35 pounds with calorie counting so far, it doesn't feel like dieting, I don't freak out when the scale goes up now and again any more.

I feel like most people I know who do Slimming World are constantly yo-yoing and losing and gaining the same amount of weight because they do it for a while then get sick of the restriction and go back to old habits and then continue in the same cycle over and over.

Both methods work through calorie restriction, it's just a different method of calculating it. I say give calorie counting a whirl, it's free and if you're doing it right, it works, you have nothing to lose really (except pounds).

If you like the weekly accountability from SW, there are similar groups here, I have a weekly weigh in group here, that has been running for over a year:
