Hi everyone,

I am 26. When I have my first child with my fiance in March I will be 27. I feel clueless on how to take care of the baby right now. I feel even more clueless about the best way to lose weight post pregnancy especially when I was already chubby pre pregnancy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Start doing some reading now. Your library should have all sorts of infant care books, familiarize yourself with whats normal and whats not. Also, take the infant care and breastfeeding classes your hospital offers.

"Happiest baby on the block" has some useful tips on calming babies. But there isnt a one size fits all "correct" way to do it. You will get to know your kid and what works and what doesnt for them.

There is a great post called "gaining weight during pregnancy and losing ot postpartum" in the most helpful getting started links at the top of the getting started board. Take a look at that.

Hi, I have a 2 year old and am pregnant with my second. I would say don't worry about the postpartum period, just focus on a healthy pregnancy and delivery.
Aim to gain a healthy amount of weight, that is different for everyone depending on your starting weight. Focus on healthy, balanced meals with fruit and vegetables, whole grains and lean meats. Try to get some physical activity in every day such as 30 minutes of walking.
Every single first time parent feels unprepared at the beginning, you will find your rhythm once the baby arrives. Try to sleep as much as you can now, because your days of sleeping are soon to be over.
