So are we only supposed to discuss third world problems here? What a jerky response
what if he's right?
Then this whole Community and just about every discussion needs to be shut down0 -

nah, he's right tho'.
first world problems.... third world problems, what I wanna know is when does the second world get to have their problems addressed? They've been outta the discussion for quite some time. They are kinda like the middle child of world problems.2 -
I have always wondered who the second world is made up of, that's for sure.1

I have been googling this for the past 30 minutes nonstop (probably to have an excuse to slack when I have work to do) and I still can't figure out what is what. The only thing I could definitely find is the old definition of capitalist, communist, and non-aligned. I suppose I live in a third world country by most definitions, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Health care is excellent (one of the best according to a random student insurance website google took me to) with modern well-equipped hospitals, low crime and violence rates, high literacy rates and great access to education...etc, and yes, Starbucks is a thing. I'm guessing even third world countries are on a spectrum.1 -

I will chime in as someone who enjoys Starbucks and usually goes there 3-5 times per week. I walk right past it on the way from my car into work so it's easy to order on the app and just grab and go. I'm not a fan of lattes/frappes/etc. My go-to is a grande cold brew coffee with nonfat milk. It tops out at $3 and 25 calories. It's a non-issue and keeps me sane at work so why not?
Well it works for you. The OP started this thread because they were spending $180 per month at Starbucks and they want to stop or at most spend $25 per month. They wrote that.0 -
Like someone else suggested about saving everytime you miss a starbucks, save the money and get a coffee maker for home (if you dont already have one). I know you said you’re not fussed on coffee but having a machine that can do the work for you will stop you going there so much0
-
$180 is a lot of money for one month coffee and whatever.. seeing those numbers would be enough to keep me driving on past LOL
Not sure what the draw is to Starbucks, I would never think of going in to one here, not when there are so many non franchise cafes who do much nicer coffee and cakes0 -
Rethink how you think about wealth. You are absolutely right in that's a lot of money you are spending on something that really doesn't matter.
So what do you care about? Then use your Starbucks funds to that-at least mostly. For example:
Fitness: invest in a fun exercise class, gym or equipment.
Security: start a saving account to save for the future.
Family: save for a vacation to see Mom.
It adds up! But wealth isn't in sugar drinks. It us about living a good life.2 -
I didn't like spending calories on my coffee in the am so I found a way to make it work for me. I keep a pitcher of strong cold coffee in my fridge. I mix up 1/2 cup of 1% milk, 2T of half and half, 2 small scoops vanilla protein powder and 1 chocolate, 1T of Splenda, blend it in the ninja, pour it over a few ice cubes in my bubba to go tumbler, top off with coffee. 24oz., 207 calories, 32 grams of protein, 8 grams of sugar. It tastes like a treat. I basically drink it all morning and eat my breakfast meal between 1&21

I have a bad Starbucks habit too, which I'm also trying to break. Feel free to add me -- we can motivate each other to not drink Starbucks!0

Google starbucks drinks that you can make at home!
And get yourself a great thermal cup that looks cool to keep it in!
You can even use a Starbucks thermal cup.
I don't know...I really don't like "one time" things, like take-out cups, so making my fancy coffee drinks at home and bringing it in my re-useable cup (it's super cute, has my name engraved on it, it was a gift to me from a volunteer organization I work with) makes me feel pretty special.0 -
Deleting the app from my phone has been the best tool so far. And making my own, ensuring it’s cold enough. Not using the app when there’s no money left doesn’t work because it’s so easy to reload. I did have a mishap one morning though...0

I usually get the most fattening drink there but today I went and got a skinny vanilla latte with almond milk .. loved it and it was ALLOT less calories.
I wish it was just for the experience .. but I love the drinks. Going to be making my own though ... cheaper and that way I control what's put in it for sure. This eating and drinking healthy is today new for me but I'm excited with the possibilities of a new way of living .0 -
Suggest replacing it with something that lacks the calories but feels equally unnecessary and decadent. Manicures, new jewelry, etc. As for the drink, consider replacing the syrup with sugar free and the milk with skim. It might take a bit of getting used to, but you'll adjust and even prefer it after a whie.2

I felt the same way about getting fancy coffee and strolling into work. I get that same pleasure now bringing in my own coffee with a cute insulated tumbler that I got from Etsy with my name on it. People always compliment my cup and im saving a ton of money3

OP, I get it. Before I got serious about losing and maintaining my weight, I would frequently pass through the drive through for fast food breakfast, or for a snack on the way home, some days both. When I tried to stop doing it, I'd be successful for a few days, but then some perturbation - a bad day, a hunger pang, whatever - I'd be back.
I stopped doing this when I got serious about sticking to my calorie budget. Road burgers and bagel sandwiches blew most of my calories for the day. I now find that I don't miss them all that much.

Also, there's this. Don't be this person:

Not to beat a dead horse, but make coffee at home. I personally don’t like black coffee, so I add a little bit of vanilla almond milk and like a tablespoon of a torani syrup of my choosing and BAM it gives you a sweet taste similar to Starbucks without all the calories and money. Definitely look into the syrups though, I would highly recommend. They have so many flavors. I even have a $12 frother from amazon that just spins my milk to create a frothy like latte.1
