How long did it take you to lose 20 lbs?

I am 5’5 and about 150-152, I want to get back down to 130. How long would you estimate it would take me on a 1200 calorie diet, and an hour a day of cardio? Thanks!

Everyone is different. But I would say anywhere between 10 - 20 weeks.3

Thank you!

I'm your height, but older. On 8/7/15 I weighed 151. On 11/11/15, I weighed 130. I think that's around 13 weeks. I didn't try to lose as fast as possible, rather at a healthy moderate rate.
I ate 1200 only for about the first month of that; it was too low (lost too fast, got weak & fatigued). Went to 1400 for around the next month, then 1500, finally 1620 for the last couple of weeks. (130 wasn't goal weight for me - small frame. If it had been, I would've started raising calories earlier.)
I ate back pretty much all my my exercise calories on top of the calories mentioned above, after estimating exercise carefully. I probably did 4-6 hours exercise most weeks, maybe a bit more, mostly rowing & spinning, some walking and biking.
Your results will differ, but those were mine at a similar size.4 -

My stats are pretty much the same as you. I'm 5'5". Started at 155 ish. Currently 146 or so. Aiming for 130-135. Took me since October to get here and didn't lose over the holidays. Started to stall a few weeks ago but staying motivated and upping the exercise. I have a different CICO approach and do it over a week rather than a day (I eat different things, hike at weekends) but my average daily goal is 1350.1 -
It depends on how consistent you are. I've lost 20lb in 6 months (5ft tall and 140lb down to 120lb) but that was strict diet and exercise. I gained and started over at 140 and got to 118 but with smaller changes and have maintained at 120 for the last year BUT it took 2 years with the smaller changes. It was aslo easier to maintain with the smaller changes so IDK, it can vary.1

Everyone is different. I'm 6'. I followed the MFP plan precisely and have lost 20 pounds since Thanksgiving Day.1

I [only] had 20lbs to lose, I aimed for 0.5lb per week loss and it took me almost 10 months. The good news is I haven't regained, been in maintenance for almost 5 years.9

I'm same height. Took me about 6 months but I will eat an maintenance levels for vacation, weekends etc.2

I'm 5'7", currently 146lbs aiming for 130lbs. I'm happy if I can manage to lose 1lbs per week, but most times it's only 0.5lbs per week. I aim for 1200 calories, but often end up closer to 1300-1400 because I end up feeling too hungry.3

Yes I as well! I normally do 1200 for 6 days and on like Saturday or Sunday just maintain. Previously (months ago when I was trying to lose weight) I lost 10 pounds in a month this way. However at the time, I had moved abroad on my own so for months I was eating a lot of fast food, soda, just pure crap and I think it sorta just popped off after I cut out that crap completely! Thanks for the insight1 -

I'm 5'6", and lost 20 pounds in about 4 months eating 1200 calories a day plus about 70% of the exercise calories I earned. MFP is designed for you to lose weight after eating back those calories, so be sure to do that to fuel yourself. BUT, I would warn you to lose at a slower rate, about 0.5 to 1.0 pounds per week. At a rate of 5 pounds lost per month, even with weight lifting I lost some muscle mass on my arms and back. Not a great look!2

I'm the same height as you, I've lost 15 pounds in 69 days so far. (about 10 weeks)1

1lb per week would be about 5 months. Given that you might lose more in the beginning and less in the end, I think that's a pretty good estimate.2

Risky fast rate, IMO . . . but I'm glad to hear that in your case that it worked without negative health, appearance or energy consequences!2 -

I am bigger so it probably took less time but it took me around three months.0 -
At 5'4 it took me 5 months to go from 160 to 140 (back in 2012). The next 5 pounds took 4 months3

I'm 5'4" and 150. It would take me about 9 years to get to 130 I'd say.
In all honestly. It doesn't happen for me. I give up before I can make it. Every July I can hit like 136 for a week, then I'm back up.2 -
Took me about a year to go 145-125. I didn’t weigh anything but tried to stick close to 1500. I was probably eating more, though I felt starving much of the time...!?1

A little over 2 months. I started out at 213 with, what I know now, was a pretty aggressive deficit.1
