Diet Meals - What do you think?

Hello everyone,
I have just today been suggested this site by one of my colleagues in the office

I am thinking about trying this out for 2 weeks and see if it works.
I dont usually trust in diet meals, but these are not expensive and look healthy as well.
What do you think of it? Any opinions would be great. :flowerforyou:

The meals look really good. It looks like it would come in handy if you didn't have the time to prepare healthy meals for yourself...ie) busy lifestyle, ect.0

I Think those meals work because they only send you the correct portion size. And you only get one portion, so no seconds. The food on the site looks great, but I'm going to warn you that for the calories they list, you probably won't get as much food as pictured on the casseroles. Also I'm not sure what the price computes to in dollars, but I know the programs similar to this in the US that have Chef prepared meals can end up costing alot.0

Yes I thought so too when I saw the meals. I also checked the nutritional info and it is pretty good.
I dont have time to prepare lunches as I am working full time so I usually buy something from a shop.
Not all of them have the nutritional value sometimes so it becomes quite limited in regards to the meals i can eat for lunch. And I dont have time to cook anythign for dinner between coming home and getting to the gym and after the gym I am too tired to eat anything. This would be ideal.0 -
what Anna B said......plusn I dont really like the idea unless it is just impossible to do it myself...it may seem inexpensive but someone is making money on the deal and it isnt the buyer0

Yes I was worried about the cost too. But it is like this:
1 order of 4 weeks of diet meals (breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner) costs £190 (= ca. $280 )
I pay at least £120 (ca. $180) for my lunches alone every month. So for a little more I also ahve dinenrs and snacks included. Costwise this would work out the same if not less as if I were to continue buying all my food as I do now.
I know, I dont think that 300gr of soup is alot. :ohwell:
But they sayd that all their meals add up to 1200 cals per day. MFP recommends me to eat 1350. So if I am hungry still I can add some fruit or veg or eat another little snack. Thanks to them providing the nutritional value I can enter it all in MFP and then see the numbers and plan if I want to add another snack for example.
This sounds better and better to me really. Especially as I am starting to get bored of the usual salads and soups that I currently add to my plan.0 -
I'm too busy to cook lunch also, so what I do is when I cook a meal I make extra, then divide it up in to portions and freeze the extra portions for lunches. We eat a lot of soups at noon. And I know exactly what goes into them.0

Looks good but it is QUITE expensive considering what they give you - better to copy their ideas of what to eat at breakfast / lunch and dinner and get similar things in a similar calorie range from the supermarket each week!

I see your point, but then I also dont think the supermarket pays the farmer £3 for my free range eggs. Its more like the farmer getting £1 and the supermarket selling them to me for £3. whenever you buy anythign anywhere the shop makes a profit.0 -

Unfortunately not... the UK is quite expensive. I am currently paying at least £10 per day for all my meals. My home made smoothie comes to at least £3, my salad is £4.95 (made fresh in front of me at the counter) and my dinner is currently £2.99. this does not include the snacks which is a packet of baked crisps, or fruit or a yoghurt... so with £6.79 / day with those prepared meals form that delivery service I would not pay more than I already am.0 -
well if that's how much you're spending a day then this sounds like the right thing for you to do on every level! go for it!0

I decided to see how many calories I get if I added 1 of their Breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner options each to my diary. The value was pretty low. So I thought I maybe chose all the low calorie options by accident. I chose the dish for each meal that had the highest amount of calories and added it up. It came to 894 calories only!!!
I find it hilarious that they tell you on the first page that one should not go under 1200 calories to avoid starvation. And then they claim their 4 meals / day for 6.79 is all I need yet they dont even add up to anything close to 1200 calories!!! :laugh:
I sent them an email and told them all that and asked how they can seriously offer their meal plans as an attractive diet option. Needless to say no reply as yet :laugh:
Will have to stick to cooking myself and buying the occaisonal salad from th shop I guess.
Bugger, thought I could have it the easy way :blushing:

Guys, here is an update.
I contacted that Diet Chef company by email asking if I miscalculated the meals that they dont seem to add up to the required 1200 as they claim.
A guy called Kevin replied saying I obviously have to add fresh fruit and milk, which they cannot provide, to the diet.
OK, I thought, so obviously the message they give that their 4 meals a day is all I need, is completely wrong if I have to add fruit, veg and milk etc. I replied again telling them that and also that if I was to add fruit and milk to their already rich in sugar meals, I would take in far too much sugar.
I also mentioned to him that I analysed the nutritional values of their meals and gave their Mushroom Stroganoff Dinner (which only includes mushrooms and sauce, no rice, no vegetables) as an example.
I said given that it has 39.5 gr of Fat and 27g of Saturated Fat in only 250g of mushroom and sauce I cannot see how that could possibly be healthy! :noway:
I said I dont feel their meals are attractive nor healthy and that I am disappointed to see they mislead people this way.
The reply I got back was a simple "Thanks for the feedback. Regards, Kevin".
Looks like they have nothing to say to that.
Im so glad I didnt waste money on those meals and checked everything beforehand. What a scam.
