Don't get discouraged, work thru it. i had a mini plateau a few weeks ago, lasted two and a half weeks, but I kept going and the scale started moving again.
  • My scale didn't move at all and actually went up this past week, and today is my weigh in and it was down 2.2 lbs. Just hang in there the biggest thing is to not go back to your old ways and remember what has you wanting to lose the weight!

Be strong. Sometimes change isn't measured in pounds. Evaluate what you did for the week and see if you can find some ways to improve. Measure yourself, maybe you lost inches but gained muscle mass. Don't be discouraged. It takes time to do it the RIGHT way.

Just looked at your diary the only thing i would suggest is you even your meals out , your breakfast seems really small and your dinner a lot bigger!

That happens periodically when losing weight for several weeks or months. Just stick with it. If you eat a healthy diet and exercise your body has no choice but to eventually let go of the extra weight.

That shouldn't inhibit weight loss. I eat very little breakfast and a big dinner every day and I've reached my goal. It's total calories that matter.
  • Don't be discouraged!! I have been hovering within 2-3 lbs since March. No real loss but no extreme gain. I am staying postive b/c I continue doing what I am doing and not giving up. This plateau will end, i don't know when it will end but I want to be content with me so I don't want to beat myself up. You can do it!! Just keep eating right and exercise, it will happen but maybe as quickly as you wish. Always remember the slower you take it off the more likely you are to keep it off. I plan to stay healthy for the rest of my life so I have a while to go.

Personally, I go through cycles where I enter a short plateau every four weeks. It appears that my natural progression (when I look at my data closely) is two weeks of rapid loss, one week of slower loss, and a plateau week that ends + or - 0.5 lbs. If you are really concerned that this is something more, I'd encourage you to look at this link which I cribbed from someone else in a recent forum: http://fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html.

Too many people at MFP fail to understand the science behind their metabolism and in the process sabotage their own loss. To boost you metabolism and break through a plateau, you need MORE of something...the question is what? The article cited does the best job I've seen of explaining metabolism and weight loss with reference to cardio, strength, and calories. Give it a serious read; at the end, it has a series of questions to help you figure out what you need more of. If the answer is calories, take it seriously! Your cells cannot maintain a high metabolic rate if they don't have the fuel to justify it! Hope this helps.
