I take cinnamon with chromium everyday along with my metformin, and I have not seen a significant difference :/

I Also take a multivitamin, fish flax and borage oils, and b12. Nothing miraculous has happened that didn't include a diet and exercise program. I do feel the fish oil helps somewhat

You might want to talk to your doctor about that before you going messing around with something that serious. Cinnamon is know to help bring down and stabilize blood sugar, but as far as using it with metformin and all those hypoglycemic drugs, you might want to make damn sure you do your homework. I've taken care of alot of patients that did some goofy stuff thinking they were helping themselves. What ever you do, just take care of yourself, and you diabetes.

I use to take Cinnamon religiously along with metformin and other vitamins.. but I didn't notice any difference with it. Ya know what I did try that I felt like I noticed a difference with.. it's called L-Carnitine.. I took like a half an hour before I would workout and it really gave me a nice boost of energy, also it's suppose to help your mussels process the fat faster while working out. I saw it on Dr. OZ! I love that show.. lol

I take 2,000mg of cinnamon with Chromium every day (1,000mg 2x a day) and I have seen a HUGE difference. I was 293 in March and got down to 287 two and a half months. I started cinnamon in June and now I am down to 255. I DO NOT TAKE METFORMIN. I refuse to take metformin as I could not get past the horrible side effects (not everyone experiences these, but I did). From my reading and understanding, taking cinnamon WITH metformin can be counterproductive and you won't see a difference. One study I saw actually suggested that taking cinnamon can reduce the effectiveness of your metformin, but this was just one study and I do not know the details or the validity of it. Interesting thought though.

Additionally, when I eat, I normally get extremely sick afterwards due to my insulin resistance. I have noticed that after I started taking the cinnamon, I don't get that nearly as often.

Every body is different and one thing that works for one person won't necessarily work for another. The recently published studies have shown that cinnamon naturally increases your body's sensitivity to insulin and that chromium helps increase it's effectiveness. Almost all of the studies have used 2,000mg or more daily to see an effect and have shown a significant difference in the lab results of those taking the cinnamon versus the placebo. I haven't seen any studies that have used more than 6,000mg daily. Personally, I stick with 2,000mg because I know I cook with cinnamon so if I get more that day, then awesome.

I also take 2,000mg of fish oil with Omega-3 and a multivitamin that has a variety of antioxidants and amino acids. All of my supplements are taken with the recommendation and supervision of my doctor.

It has helped me in the past. But I never took it with metformin. I would not take it with metformin.

Wow I've never heard of cinnamon solutions? I've noticed fish oil helps. The metformin doesn't seem to do a whole lot. Does the metformin help anyone else largely here???

This might help you - or at least an interesting read. She is also insulin resistant and PCOS.

My husband uses cinnamon and bitter melon. The bitter melon actually lowers the blood sugars more than the cinnamon, at least in his case. Make sure you are using your meter to check your levels. If you take supplements in addition to Metformin, it could lower your levels too much.
