Hi All.... I work crazy long hours which leaves little time to work out but I would like to know if you had my day when would you do it.
My day goes...Work from 6pm till 8am, bed at 9am and up at 3pm...then any housework and cook tea then back at work at 6pm.
And if it matters I eat tea at 7pm and have fruit and yoghurt at 3am and that's all.. So please let me know if I need to eat beforehand.
Thanks heaps

Is this each day of the week? If I worked 12-hour shifts, I would probably focus my workouts to be on my days off (when I worked 12s, I had four days off per week, not sure how many you have). If I only had a couple days off and your schedule, I would do my workout right at 3 PM, after I woke up.
You only need to eat beforehand if you find you prefer it.2 -
Hi there.. Thanks for that.. I work these hours 5 days a week... Normally so tired my days off are spent sleeping lol0

You work 14 hours a day?! AND it's shift work?!
I'd go for a workout right as you wake up then which is what I do. And then have breakfast/tea after that. There's not many other options really. If you're off work by 8am and in bed at 9am you probably don't want to workout within that hour before you're trying to sleep.1 -
The way I look at it is this...
there are 24 hours in a day. You work 12...so you have 12 left to work with. Sleep for 8...now you have 4 hours to work with.
Maybe during your work week take 4 days and do 30 minutes of exercise out of those 4 hours and then maybe an hour long session on one or both of your days off.
That's probably how I'd work it. As far as when...personal preference. I'm not really a wake up and exercise guy unless I have to so I'd likely opt for coming home after work and doing my workout.1 -
Wow you do work a lot. What kind of work do you do? Are you mainly sitting or are you active? If I had your day I might very well be dead on my feet. I won't complain about my 50 to 55 hours anymore!! To answer your question though you need to find the time of day that works best for you. I personally like to work out fasted first thing when I wake up. I also workout in the evening after work. When I work out after work I have to make sure I haven't eaten anything at least an hour prior. You'll have to experiment what works best for you, not everyone is the same.1

Exercise right when you get up. It helps wake you up and then get you moving for the rest of your day. I find that I get up and ready to go much faster when I workout first thing than if I put it the off.1

Thanks everyone.... No excuses here just curious how others would work my day... I am physically active the whole time I'm at work. Can get anywhere from 25000 to 30000 steps a day so I'm not sitting round doing nothing that's for sure.0

You're amazing. If I clocked 25,000 to 30,000 steps a day at work, I just wouldn't bother to work out during my work week. I'd be wiped out, as that would be about 11-13 miles on my feet. I'd likely adjust my caloric intake to meet meet my goal.
Be good to yourself. On your days off, do something fun. No need to overdo it. If you like to walk, find a place you like and do it. Do what brings you joy. Don't be a slave to "fitness." You need to recharge both body and mind. If I was too wiped out to do anything, I'd think about another job. Life is too short.1
