Our lease is up in March and so we have planned on moving in with my husbands best friend and taking over the mortgage that his mom currently pays. (Inherited house my husbands best friends brother has been living there with his family up until a week ago. He pays mother and she pays mortgage). Everything was going great, we’ve been prioritizing what improvements to make to the house. And we get a call today that the house will be going into foreclosure the end of February. In order to avoid this we would have to put up $29,000. So now we are pretty much screwed. We’re 22-23 with two children. Don’t have anyone we trust to watch kids so we live off of my husbands factory job.

  • Find out who the lienholder is. Sometimes they will do a "short sale" to avoid taking a big loss on a mortgage and even provide creative financing. If the numbers line up it may work out in your favor. All they can do is say no.

Do not give them any money. The track record is there. You already know they will mismanage any money you give them.

Agree with S.R. perhaps it's time to looks for another door to knock on.

He just bought a huge house. He and the mom have an iffy relationship anyway. I don’t think he was surprised when he found out.

I think you’re right. I just wish we would’ve found out sooner.

Agree. Sooner would have been better.

Perspective. Better now than after you moved in.

You are young. You are learning. You will be much better in a few short years for the education you are getting now.
