Every morning for breakfast I have a tin of mandarins. I've always had a thing about them I think they're so yummy! I always get the tesco value ones in syrup which are about 180 calories for the tin, then today I read that fruit in juice is less calories so I bought 12 cans of the mandarins in fruit juice, I wrnt to make my breakfast for the morning as we don't have a can opener at work so I put them in a container and they are soooo sour!! They're only 100 calories per tin but wondered any tips for making them sweeter?

The difference in calories between the ones you've been eating and the ones in juice is added sugar. So, if you want them to taste more like you're used to, add sugar.

Eat the ones you like. What's important is (1) that you fit your calories into your day, and (2) that you include food choices that help you stay on your plan to lose weight.

You might try draining the juice and drizzling a serving with honey or maple syrup before you eat. You could pour off the juice and sweeten it with sugar but you may have to heat it to get the sugar to dissolve completely. Then cool it and pour it back over the segments. It’s going to have to be pretty sweet to get a syrup consistency.
