Is anyone else doing C25k?

I am going to be doing day 3 of week 2 today and its a really tough programme. Considering I was dying on day one week one and now I can run constantly at 90 seconds 6 times without feeling like death (If anything with more energy!) I am so proud of myself.
I would like to chat / add other people doing c25k or who have done so that I can compare / get advise and also motivate eachother.
Please add me if you are doing C25k, I don't care what stage we can help another in some form of way

I'm starting next week, MyFitnessPal also has a group.

I did it, and the bridge to 10k after it, earlier this year. The programs are awesome!0

Just take it slow and easy. Don’t worry about speed just go for time. And give yourself permission to repeat a day or even a week if you need to. The last time around I struggled at one point and went back to repeat the previous week and from then on out it was great.
That first time you do that 20 run will make you feel amazing! Huge sense of accomplishment. Good luck!7 -

I started the C25K back in April and it took me about 10 weeks to hit the final day instead of 8 but it was TOTALLY WORTH IT. I ended up running a 5K the last week of August, and then continued building to a 10K the first week of November. I did not however, enjoy C210K. The way they do the pacing just didn't work for me so I ended up just pushing myself with music and motivation I had gained from the 5K to follow Hal Higdon's 10K program.
Totally happy to be your pal. After 10 weeks off from running in November I got two 5K runs in at the end of January when we briefly had spring-like weather. Now a mixture of mental exhaustion and 2 feet of snow are keeping me off the road but that's okay. My goal is to build to a half marathon beginning in May, knowing that my base kilometers remain around 5K. Our bodies remember!
Good luck!0 -
I started the C25K years ago, got halfway through it and I had to stop due to an unrelated injury. Just starting again but I've decided to do my own program (basically wingin' it!)1

I did the C25K as part of a weight loss program .... it is a great program to start running.
I am in the situation now where I am trying to figure out what to do next.
I don’t see myself going to the 10k or anything other than 5K’s to be frank .... just don’t have the time to devout to it (3 days per week is MORE THAN enough)
I want to work on increasing my pace — would specifically like to incorporate my heart rate monitor to make sure I’m doing this safely.

The issue you've got is that as a new runner most gains in speed come from adding more volume. Until you've got a solid aerobic base you'll neither gain any real benefit from speedwork, and indeed your more likely to injure yourself than anything else.
Personally I wouldn't put a new runner at 5K on anything more complex than building up to 10K per session.
When I'm doing speed sessions they're generally between 10 and 16Km total, with the warm up and cool down between them covering 5K. I only do speed sessions at certain points in my cycle though, as my focus is long distances.0 -
I am a new runner (started C25K at the end of May last year). I still find big jumps in my 5K speed every time I significantly increase my distance. I'm currently training for a half marathon. I am not all that fast yet and probably won't be as long as I am still obese, but I am doing something I would never have dreamed possible a year ago.3

Hi there I did it about two years ago and completed a 5 k race my last week of it. It was awesome and rewarding.1

Just finished wk 3 day 1 today! Started it a couple of years ago but couldn't get past week 2 (repeated it a couple of times and gave up in frustration). Enjoying it much more this time around2

I'm doing one right now and also using a metronome for pacing purpose.0

I did it this past summer and found that I was jogging too fast at the beginning. Slow down. I was running by myself, so I actually started talking out loud to myself so that I better regulate that slower speed. They say you're going the right speed for you if you can carry on a conversation while you run. I'm sure that I looked like a crazy woman at times, but I eventually improved my stamina by going slower. I also repeated Week 4 because I wasn't ready to advance. I was pleased to finish the program, and was even happier that the intervals at a slow speed helped me avoid injuries.
Congratulations on starting, and keep going!1 -
Me!! Several years ago I lost a lot of weight and developed a love of running. I even ran a half marathon! Then...fell WAY off track. I'm getting back into running and want to build back up to a half - but for now working towards a 5K.1
