Don't know about Yaktrax, but a number of runners in my group have used nano spikes while marathon training on icy roads.

Thank you I’ll look into nano spikes, I just don’t seem to be getting any traction with the yaktrax and the snow balls all up into the coils on them. I hate not being outside but there has to be something better..

I use Due North traction aids. They work really well, but mine wore out pretty quickly (lasted less than a season). Worth it though to run outside!

I made my own like above- just be careful where you place them. Worked great and most runners always have an extra pair to try it out on.

When I lived in Anchorage, Alaska the local running store would add screws to the soles of your shoes for $10. Worked much better than YakTrax. When ice season was over, they’d remove them for free.

YakTrax has several models. I have these ones, which I use with trail shoes (fairly hard sole, great support) on dirt. They wouldn't work well on hard surfaces, I imagine, but I like them for the above. Note that they have spikes under the sole of your foot.

I did this to an old pair of shoes. They work great - even on cement/paved roads they are sturdy.

I've got a pair of Nanospikes. I've used them on 5K runs and they work well for me.

Everytime I see this I think it says “anthrax” and my immediate thoughts are. “Not a whole lot works better than that”
