Online it says a whole eggplant has like 150 calories but that seems too good to be true to me

Depends on the weight. Find an entry that goes my weight, "Whole" is useless when an eggplant can be small, or up to almost a kilo.0

eggplant, like may vegetables, is low in calories. According to USDA website: 100g is 25 calories
https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/29620 -
Eggplant is 92% water, 3% dietary fiber (non-digestible), 3% sugar, 1% protein, and 25 Cals/100g.
Watermelon is 91% water, 0.4% dietary fiber, 6% sugar, 0.6% protein, and 30 Cals/100g.
Anything with that high water content is considered low calorie.1 -
As long as you don't bread it with egg and bread crumbs then fry in oil, then have it as a sandwich with buttered bread, it is a low calorie veggie.1
