Do you go by the calories counted on the machine, or what MFP calculates? Machine said 365 calories elliptical machine at the YMCA, but MPG said 813.. big difference! Just curious of what others opinion are?

I go by the machine, but I only eat back around half my exercise calories and use the rest as a buffer against inaccurate logging. Someone told me most machines that calculate your burn without asking for you to input your weight calculate it based on your weighing 150lbs. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then the closer you are to 150, the more accurate the machine is going to be.

I go by what my fitbit since it uses HR. But today i notice the machine calorie vs my fitbit only had a 26 calorie difference.
I weigh 166.5 pounds, so if the machine is programmed to a 150 pound person that makes since then.

Thanks for the feedback.. I do input my weight and age stats when I start the workout. I bought a watch tracker, but not a fit bit.. goes with the saying, you get what you pay for.. the teacher i have d oesnt take you HR while you in motion, your supposed to sit still and quiet when it's calculating, kinda pointless.. guess i need to invest in the fitbit.

Be careful with eliptical calorie burns. The one I use shows literally double that my Apple Watch shows. So it takes about 33 min to burn 150 calories, but the elliptical shows 300 calories in the same time. That’s a huge difference. The treadmill shows about the same total calories as my Apple Watch.
