Stretch marks from weightlifting?

Do any of you guys get stretch marks on your arms/legs from weightlifting?

When I was in high school (either 9th or 10th grade, I forgot) I was in weightlifting class. I was a heavy lifter at the time, and had problems with extra testosterone (as a female, I had WAY too much, according to my doctor). I was weightlifting a lot more than the other girls, and was increasing the weight by a lot every week (without problems). After awhile, I started getting stretch marks on my arms, right around my triceps. They freaked out my mom and she made me stop weightlifting.

So now those scars have faded and aren't noticeable anymore, and I'm back to weightlifting again. My testosterone is SUPPOSED to be normal now, but as I weightlift more and more, I'm noticing new stretch marks on my arms.

Are these normal? Does anybody else get these, or am I just a weirdo?

I bulked up real fast several years ago and found them in a similar spot. Once I stopped and started to maintain they went away. I have been the same weight ever since so I haven't had the problem again.

You are not a weirdo. I got a lot of stretch marks when I started cheerleading in high school, and quickly built up quad muscles. I still get them easily, especially on my legs when building new muscle. Stretch marks are genetic too. It is likely if mom got them during pregnancy; you will be more inclined to get them. Don't worry about it, and keep up the hard work!

If you could see most of the pro bodybuilders up close you'd notice their stretchmarks.
  • When I got more and more into volleyball, my legs got muscular pretty fast, and I got a few. They faded as my body got used to it though.
