I've started today a workout routine on Bodybuilding.com to help shed fat and according to there nutrion, it says I should eat 3000 calories a day. I know you need to to have a surplus in calories when lifting but anyone esle out there not eat quite that much on lifting days? Or should I really eat 3000 calories? It sounds to scary!

If you are trying to shed fat then you should NOT be eating a surplus of calories.

To shed fat, you must be eating a calorie deficit.

You can still do the routines on the website (I think they are great!) but keep in mind that your goal for weight training while you are shedding fat is muscle maintenance since lots of cardio and calorie deficits can lead to muscle loss. The weight training will prevent that from happening in addition to making your metabolism run faster since you are strengthening the muscle and making them more efficient.

When you eat a surplus, you will gain muscle for sure, but you will also gain some fat unless you really know what you are doing. Either way, you are going to gain weight.

I think you need to look at their target audience compared to MFP. On their site people are trying to gain or maintain mass not lose weight.
