Hi, I am a returner to MFP after a few years absence. Between four and five years ago I lost 5stonrs in weight and felt wonderful even though I still had a long way to go to get to a "healthy"weight. I found myself stuck on a plateau for several months, and because I was feeling some much better, I stopped trying! Now weight has gradually crept on again and although it's not five stone, I have decided to take action now.
I am 66 years old, married with seriously adult children, and weigh 215.2 pounds as of this morning. My goal is to reach 145pounds. I know! It's a snip right? No problem. Except I have a chronic back problem, take medication to correct my thyroid function, and steroids for polymyalgia. Oh, and I'm bone idle. On the plus side, I no longer smoke, and I don't drink very much these days.
I would enjoy sharing my journey with anyone who would enjoy sharing theirs with me

hi there . you mentioned the thyroid function being off and also a weight loss plateau - i would absolutely check your levels with your doc to make sure things are running smooth. i once had a client with hashimoto's and she was at a plateau for weeks despite perfect adherence - i urged her to go to the doc to check her levels - turns out her meds needed adjusting! good luck on your journey :) you can do it! nutrition is 90% of the work!
