Confusion when logging my food

If I want to “create” a food by manually typing in the nutrition information, do I type it in per serve or per 100g?

    I use the highest available because that has less rounding. If the serving size is over 100 grams, I'd use the serving size. If the serving size is less that 100 grams, use the per 100 grams.

    When you enter the food into your food diary, you can then set the increment to 1 gram and enter the weight.

    I wish the US made manufacturers list per 100 grams rather than letting them have tiny serving sizes and round down to hide the actual values. :s

    Most foods are already in the database. If you want to add a missing food based on a product label, I'd follow the label exactly and enter it as it is stated. If its a food you create from a home recipe, then use a measurable figure rather than the vague reference to "serving" size.

    Are you talking about a recipe?
    If so, you get to set how many people are going to share the dish, then you list all the ingredients and it works out the serves for you...

    The word "serve" is so loose on packaging, I recommend using grams whenever you can.

    I'm pretty sure OP is referring to European food labels that give information both for a standardized 100 g portion of the product and for an expected serving that varies from product to product (since they don't expect you to eat as much catsup in a sitting as cereal or ice cream).

    OP, you can use either. seska422 gave you one reason for choosing the larger of the two options. Personally, I would use the information for 100 g because then all I have to do is move the decimal point when I'm logging how many servings I actually ate.
