Hello. I am new to this app. Recently I started so physical therapy in the pool. We do 30 min. of cardio type movement then we use the weights in the pool for some strength training for about 15. I can't find an appropriate way to account for it. Please help.

I would just log it as some form of swimming (there's a bunch). You can find general strength training in the cardiovascular section too.

MFP uses general categories.....calorie burns are guesstimates anyway.

Beware of inflated calorie burns from the MFP lists. The app has no idea what your level of effort was during your workout. If you go with a high number, and didn't really burn that many calories, and then you eat all of those calories, you aren't going to lose weight as fast as you think you should. That usually leads to frustration. Just be cautious. Working out in the pool, if you aren't actually swimming freely, isn't going to be as much as if you were doing the same thing out of the pool since much of your weight is supported.

I have also started physical therapy in the pool as of today. I logged it as light swimming. I noticed also that it said I burned 581 calories-I wish.

I find it hard to work this out too. I am a master swimmer. If I go to a training session I usually log 15 mins as light to moderate swimming but then log 45 mins of fast... cos we are doing sets on 80% effort thru to 100% effort. But what do I do with the 10 - 40 sec rests?
A larger person will also exert more energy to pull a less aerodynamic form through the water.

There is a water aerobics, water calasthenics entry that would be the most appropriate.

I have used the MFP setting for that activity for years and have found it accurate. I always log and eat back all the calories.

Monitor your losses and adjust accordingly.

    Cheers, h.
