So I am getting hitched.....yes it's true.....and I am hosting a spa day for my girls. They are asking what snacks to bring. I cut them off of the chips and salsa / dip and asked they bring healthy snacks as the alcohol is already gonna kill me. So ideas on easy snacks that will be healthy?

Veggie platters are a givin, but we are gonna need something to eat eat as we will be consuming adult beverages too.

Thanks all

  • for a healthy desert cut up some fruit and serve with whip cream. for a meal do wraps without the cheese. The cheese kills them. do lots of veggies and some lean meat and wrap them in tortilla or use pitas. Those are my ideas! If I see more in some of moy prevention magazines I'll get back to you. Have a blast!

    I am a huge fan of this artichoke dip!

    http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/baked-artichoke-dip-recipe.html

    I've calculated out the calories and added it to this site. In a nutshell it's 90 calories per 1/2 cup and is amazing!!!

    Have fun! :drinker:

    Sliced sourdough bread with EVOO/Basalmic Vingarette to dip it in.

    Supermarkets like safeway or raley's now have a pretty good "appetizer" bar (whole food's is outta this world) - you can get a variety of olives and other marinated stuff to have with toasted bagette slices and some "smelly" cheeses. :drinker:
  • This can either be fairly healthy or very bad depending on the ingredients you use. I got the recipe from a Southern Living cookbook called 5 ingredients 15 minutes, but changed a few things. My friends go nuts over this!

    Chicken Ceasar Sandwich

    1 loaf italian bread (you could use a whole wheat bread)
    1 chicken breast fully cooked
    romaine lettuce
    feta cheese
    diced tomatoes
    Light ceasar dressing (right now I'm really into the kraft free ceasar italian

    Cut the the top off of the bread reserving the top and cut out the center, making a boat (the insides are great for cutting up and serving with dip or for making croutons). Cut the chicken into strips and line the bottom of your bread. Mix remaining ingredients and stuff the bread boat. Put on the top and cut into slices. This is super messy and so good! I'm not sure of the nutritional info, but it really ranges on the type of bread and dressing you use anyway.

    Enjoy, have fun and congrats! :drinker:

    Bellini's are great for something like that!n Peach bellini's are SO good but here is a fun recipe to try!

    Rossini Bellini
    Yield
    8 servings (serving size: about 1/2 cup)
    Ingredients

    * 1/4 cup sugar
    * 2 tablespoons water
    * 3 cups hulled strawberries
    * 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    * 1 (750-milliliter) bottle prosecco or other sparkling wine, chilled

    Preparation

    Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves. Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove from heat.

    Place sugar mixture, strawberries, and lemon juice in a blender; process until smooth. Pour pureed strawberry mixture through a sieve over a medium bowl, reserving liquid. Discard solids.

    Place 3 tablespoons strawberry mixture into each of 8 Champagne flutes. Pour 1/3 cup wine into each flute.

    Hummus might a good option to have for dipping whole grain crackers of veggies in.
    Fruit platters are good too or fruit salad.

    My family does the wraps then slices them so they are pinwheels. (Cream cheese, veggies, meat....roll, wrapt tight in saran, refridge to blend flavors, slice.....YUM).

    Hmmm... I'll meditate a bit more tonight and see if I think of more.
