MFP Whilst Pregnant?

Hi, I started MFP a few months ago, lost 2st then got pregnant and stopped trying but I’m back to eating healthily and counting, I know obviously there is no way to add pregnancy to your profile but how do you go about accounting for that? I’m 21 weeks pregnant, at current I’ve changed my goal to a 1lb loss a week and that has put me at 2000cals or so a day, but for me I feel like it’s too much, I don’t want to under eat though. Any advice gratefully accepted!

To be honest if you feel like 2000 cals is too much it probably is, there is no point forcing yourself to eat for the sake of it. I personally think your better off eating your meals when your hungry and stop when your full. If your still worried your under eating you could speak to your GP or Midwife for piece of mind? Plus we all know the eating for two thing is all a load of rubbish, although an amazing excuse when you want to cheat haha!8

Thank you! I’m definitely making sure that my three meals are good portions and fill me up. Definitely true about the cheat day though, which is always Friday morning haha! I have a midwife appointment soon so I’ll definitely have a word then!4

I think a lot of people think that sounds like a lot because they don't understand what their calorie burns are for maintaining. Depends on what your stats are, I would lose weight eating 2000 calories because I am obese, tall and active. If you have entered your stats correctly then you shouldn't really have any reason to doubt that 2000 is correct.
This is how MFP calculates your calorie allowance:

there's something here for that.0

I used MFP during my third trimester to track my macros (gestational diabetes). I maintained at about 2400-2500 calories a day.1

Speak with your doctor about what an appropriate calorie goal should be...generally at the very least you should be eating at maintenance.8

Have you gotten the okay from your ob/gyn to lose weight at this point in your pregnancy?11

Losing weight during pregnancy is rarely recommended, unless you get the ok from your midwife you should eat maintenance. Add some calorie dense stuff to your day. Nut butter, olive oil or butter for cooking, avocado, nuts. Grab some chocolate or ice cream. I loved ending my day with a bowl of ice cream when pregnant.3

This is not an appropriate question for this board. You need to speak to your doctor regarding this.
I can tell you what I did through my pregnancy, after consulting with my on. I set mfp to maintenance for the first trimester. After that, I set it to gain a half pound a week.
I found the food tracking very useful. During pregnancy I was most concerned with adequate protein intake. And then correct vitamins through food and supplements. Folic acid, b12, vitamin d, magnesium, calcium. Etc. and also remembering other supplements my doctor wanted me to take, like Dha. It was very useful to me for tracking during that time.
Congrats on your pregnancy. It's a really special time.4
