Fitbit Tracking and the Treadmill

Hi Guys!

I am trying to get some opinions on something that is driving me crazy! Lol
I use a Fitbit tracker to keep track of my steps and at night I walk on my treadmill. When it's time to walk on my treadmill I take off my tracker, because I feel that the treadmill is exercise and my steps shouldn't count towards my daily steps taken. I feel that in a way it is cheating to leave my tracker on. Am I looking at it wrong? What do you guys think, should the steps I take on my treadmill be counted towards my daily steps? In other words, should I leave my Fitbit on while I walk on my treadmill?

I leave mine on. They all count toward my daily steps. I also use my fitbit for my TDEE.

    Leave it on.
    Log the activity.
    Turn on "negative adjustments"

I leave mine on. It adjusts your calorie burn according to how much effort you're exerting, so I just leave it and don't log the exercise.

Edit: Missed the first comment. Exactly what rkmomm said.

If you do it most days, it’s more like activity than exercise. I’d keep it on and just not log the walking separately as exercise.

Your body doesn't know the difference between intentional exercise and unintentional exercise. I leave my Fitbit on for all activities.
