I need help!
I walk ten minutes to and ten minutes from school. At school, I walk around for about twenty minutes average. At the end of the day, I come home and have to do my homework straight off, or look after my little sister. Usually after I'm done, it's dinner time. Then it's dark, and because it's winter it's also cold, and I can't go for a walk like I always want to.
This Friday I'm renewing my gym membership, so hopefully going most mornings, but I'd like to be able to walk around outside too.
Another problem is, I'm a little bit awkward and only walk for a bit at a time because I feel like I have to have a route and a purpose. I have my music, and am full of good intentions, but I usually end up walking a few blocks and then going the long way back, because I'm not really sure where else to go.

Take small steps. How about increasing your walking by a minute each way everyday? Just an idea :happy:0

I've been trying to just walk the long way home, or wake up a bit earlier, but either way I just don't feel like there's a lot of spare time haha. But thanks!0 -

Do you have an iphone or internet access at home? If you do go onto nike training club - loads of simple effective workouts you could do on there0

I do walk home! I walk ten minutes there and ten minutes back. I would jog, but it's a bit hard with a school bag full of stuffDo you have an iphone or internet access at home? If you do go onto nike training club - loads of simple effective workouts you could do on there wink

I completely understand the wanting to walk with a purpose, so how about inventing a purpose? Currently (it's summer here) I go out walking to forage for blackberries. My purpose is to have some yummy fruit at the end of it that I can enjoy with some greek yoghurt.
Or how about photography? If you live in a more urban area, how about finding out more about the place you live in? I had to do a quiz recently, and did a photo quiz where I spotted unusual bits of buildings around - makes you look around more and gives a purpose to the walking.0 -

In summer, or warmer weather, I go walking with friends or to friends houses, but in winter I can't really find much to do (no friends are interested in winter haha). I live in a very small town, so there isn't a whole lot of places to go or streets to visit.0 -
If you aren't comfortable walking far then what about looking at things you can do at home.
Do you have a Wii or other games system where you can add exercise or dance games?
Or just get your little sister up and dancing for half an hour, or offer to walk her to the park.
Or you will find lots of free workouts that you can do at home, online.0 -

Thanks! I do star jumps, squats, etc. but obviously not enough, since I've had no weight loss so far. So yeah, I'm hoping to increase my at-home exercise0 -

Yes! If its difficult to go for distance, go for speed.0
