Fitbit exercise calories seem totally crazy

Hi guys,

I recently switched to using my fitbit instead of my iPhone steps and things have gone a bit weird. These are my stats from the last few days:

Monday 19th Feb: Fitbit steps = 12,559 / Calories earned = 404
Tuesday 20th Feb: Fitbit steps = 19,429 / Calories earned = 254
Wednesday 21st Feb: Fitbit steps = 11,971 / Calories earned = 0
Thursday 22nd Feb: Fitbit steps = 12,937 / Calories earned = 88

..I am so confused, none of this makes any sense! I don't suppose anyone can explain this or maybe there's a fix? Its really messing me up, I don't know whether I am eating enough or not anymore because the stats are so skewed.

Thanks :)

You seem to walk a lot... could you update your Fitbit settings to lightly active instead of sedentary? It'd probably cut back on some of the extra calories it's giving you. I've had my fitbit for so long I don't even know if it asks that.

If OP is talking about the calorie adjustment on MFP from a synced Fitbit, adjusting the Fitbit activity level won't do anything to change it.

Thanks guys! I tried to find a way to amend my activity level any way to see if this makes a difference but I couldn't find it at all, not sure if they've changed something as I remember it used to be an option.

I am just so confused, especially by the 0 calories on Wednesday!

do you have negative calorie adjustments alloted? I have done this for mine
do you log exercises and let the fitbit count? .. i stopped doing that and havent seen those issues.

    That is really odd!
A few things to look at:
    1) Make sure that your stats are set equally on both Fitbit and MFP (age/weight/activity level etc)
    2) Ensure that your fitbit account has been authorized to sync with MFP
    3) Activate the negative calorie adjustment in MFP so that your accounts don't double dip.

Once that is all done, then resync your fitbit and look back to see if anything changed.

Also check that the Fitbit time zone matches MFP time zone.

Did you log any exercises in MFP on any of those days, or have another app logging other activity to MFP? If so, that will affect the Fitbit Calorie Adjustment, because the Ftibit adjustment is the difference in what MFP estimates and Fitbit estimates, and logging from anywhere but Fitbit would reduce the adjustment.
