For as long as I can remember I have drank pop all day, but here lately I have noticed that I would rather have a bottle of water than having a pop. I still might have one a day but thats about it.

That's great! Something to try if you start really craving it... When I quit soda a number of years back, I found it was the carbonation I missed, not the syrup so now I have a soda water, generally with lemon or lime, and that takes care of it. No calories, but you still get the fizz!0

That's a great change in lifestyle for you Keep it up!0

That is great!! Water is healthier for you than pop, but if you want one, don't deprive yourself, or by the time you do finally get one you will go overboard. Just drink soda in moderation, and you should be fine! )0

Good for you! I loved my diet soda, could drink several a day...but now that I've been drinking more water, I find that I don't crave it like I used to. I might occasionally have one, but I actually LIKE water now!0

It takes me back home when someone refers to it as pop.

I use to work with a guy that got mad at me when I called it pop, he was from New York, and he would always correct me and say its called soda.0 -

I used to say pop, until in high school a very "sweet" boyfriend from the South taunted me endlessly. Naturally, I refused to call every carbonated beverage "Coke" on mere principle, and, hence, "soda" entered my lexicon.
Good for you for saying pop and for the NSV!0 -
That's great, I'm a Coke addict! I'm trying to cut back by forcing myself to drink a glass of water before I have one just to make sure I really want it and wasn't just thirsty for liquid.
PS. My favorite coke is Mt. Dew. @ thedreamhazer.0 -
Water has a ton of benefit besides being no calories (diet soda also has no calories, but can do a lot of bad things for you). Your liver needs water to convert stored fat to energy. and if your kidneys aren't getting enough water, the liver has to help the kidneys to their job. what happens as a result...the liver isn't spending time burning fat and you store it instead.
The National Academy of Sports medicine recommends 96 ounces of water per day plus an additional 8 ounces for every 25 lbs you carry above your ideal weight....plus an additional 8 ounces (at least) if you exercise. I have seen two recommendations as far as countering caffeinated beverages...either drink 8 or 16 additional ounces of water for each 8 ounces of caffeinated beverage you consume.
Personally, I wasn't a water drinker 4 months ago. I loved my diet mountain dew. However, once I read about the benefits of water...and later, the detriments of diet soda....I became an exclusive water drinker. I haven't felt better since making that switch. I have MORE energy now than when I was drinking caffeine.0 -
