TV Commercial Pet Peeves
Which commercials do you find are offensive to your weight loss challenge?
Each day it seems a I see commercials from the food or diet industry that keeps us in constant confusion about which choices to make. Where are the apples and fresh spinach ads?
I've got several PetPeeve commercials but I'll start with the microwave Popcorn commercial that has "No Trans Fats" ... (big deal !! it still has other fats and dyes and additives and colorings) ... but it's only 100 calories .. Yipeee!! ... then it shows a lady with a huge bowl of popcorn and tells her to "Go ahead .. stuff your face !"
What's SMART about that?
I find this commercial offensive because portrays over weight people as those who need something to "stuff their face with". It promotes the over indulgence that we are trying to get away from. It's contradictory. It pretends to promote healthy choices but then sabotages itself with the "stuff your face" slogan.

The commercial that bothered me the most is kinda old. I cant remember if it is a commercial or an ad in a magazine but it was paris hilton on all fours eating a whopper or a big mac or something. She is like stick thin and in a bikini eating her whopper, or whatever. It just bugs me.0

This isn't offensive to my weight loss efforts, but it is extremely offensive to me.
I HATE the Chick-fil-A billboards. Why do they want to help in the dumbing down of America? Illiteracy is a huge problem in our country. I understand that it's supposed to be funny because they are cows and they can't spell, but come on. COWS CAN'T TALK, READ OR WRITE!!!! Why is it necessary for them to misspell words? They could just as easily spell correctly and it would still be a cow writing and talking.

That FRICKIN IHOP neverending pancake commercial...UGH!:sad:Its like an open invitation and support of overeating...I dont like any neverending deals or buffets.0

Anyhting with fattening food after supper ticks me off. Why can't they advertise fruit and salads?:happy:0

it doesn't pertain to my weightloss, but I hate the Hardees commercials- the Men don't bake, and men can't cook breakfast etc ones. I bake quite alot, and my guy friends look forward to it lol, so I refuse to ever eat at Hardees... not that i did much before that, but that seals it for me0

All the Special K commercials. They all show already-thin women, make fun of them for being 'fat', and then the Special K Diet is eating two bowls of cereal a day with Special K snacks and one actual meal. It's not a nutritionally sound diet and, of course, claims you'll lose 6 lbs in two weeks.0

These ones make me angry too! The woman wearing the overstuffed down filled white jacket and her daughter comparing her to the snow man... or the woman wearing the red robe with white trim and the daughter thinking she's santa? If Nicole Richie wore those outfits she would still look like frosty/santa! Grrrr.
Another one that just annoys me is the yogurt one about pre-biotics with the SUPER thin lady in the yoga outfit who 'needs to watch her weight' like wtf, if you can wear a sportsbra as a shirt to begin with you don't need to lose weight!
Another one that annoys me is the yogurt one where the woman is like 'i had boston cream pie, apple pie, etc. this week and it was fantasic' Only hate it because I want it and they don't sell them in Canada yet. Arg. Its like bragging to me about what I can't have!
Sigh, that felt good to rant, lol.0
