I'm doing my 1st 5K this Saturday. I probably won't run the whole thing but it's just a goal I've had to participate in one.
Anyway my question is what should I eat/drink that morning to best prepare myself? Any other tips/suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Enjoy your run0 -
For a short race like that, I wouldn't bother taking anything just before the start. Just have a good balanced meal a couple hours before the race and you'll be fine.
Remember to ALWAYS hydrate well.0 -
Do what you normally do before runs. Try not to change anything.0

Just eat a normal breakfast with slow-releasing energy... maybe some oats with yogurt and fruit, or wholegrain toast and eggs. Leave plenty of time for your food to digest though (I always try and leave 1.5hrs).
Make sure you drink little and often, too.
Good luck! I'm sure you can complete it! If you get tired, just slow down for a bit. )0 -
Good luck. Mine is this weekend too - in Williamsburg, VA0

That!
And best of luck. Enjoy it! I was pretty emotional the last 1/4 mile of my first 5k. Will never forget it0 -
I am still a newbie to running, so I don't have any tips, but I do want to say enjoy it and good luck!0

First of all, Im so excied for you & very proud of you!! Next, I have always treated my" morning of a race" the same because I already know the normal amount my body is used to. Usually oatmeal and then I am off!! Now you make me want to look for a race!!0

you most likely will surprise yourself by just going with the flow of everyone's energy around you and KEEP GOING! I never thought I could jog the entire thing but I did. How? I turned my brain off - turned my limitations off - and went with it!
Take music. Or take a friend. Chat the entire way. Have a great and memorable time!!0 -
I'm so excited for you! I haven't started running yet, but I'm sure your determination will get you through it just fine... I don't know what you should eat, but wanted to wish you the best... I can't wait till my first run... One day.... someday...
Good Luck!!!!!0 -
Thank you all! I'm really excited about this. I was never a runner but I'm finding that as I overcome obstacles... mostly with my confidence that I enjoy my runs (which right now is a mix of walking and jogging).
Thanks for all the support!!! :flowerforyou:0
