Massage preferences
If you love a good massage, I want to hear from you.
Where do you get your massage? Physical Therapy? Chiropractor? National Massage Chain such as "Massage Envy"? Small hole-in-the-wall, shady strip-mall massage parlor?
What kind of massage do you prefer? Deep Tissue? Shiatsu? Relaxing Swedish Massage? Hot Stones? Trigger Point? Thai?
And finally, what is an appropriate percentage to tip?

            Painful and effective. Physical therapist.
 Deep tissue. ART. Graston.
A relaxing massage is a waste of an hour.
Actually at a doctors office that charges an arm, a leg, and half a torso. No tip.
Otherwise 20%. It’s a very demanding job that bodies can’t really perform long term, generally.0

Massage Envy, and the Spa at a local casino. Deep all the way. I usually do $15 tip for an hour. I'd say 20% is probably whats expected for a good job. I go every other week or so.0

The best massages I have gotten have been deep tissue massages, done by a therapist at a PT practice.
I have gotten some good spa massages as well. Best was at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island (but I also had a less fantastic massage there...several years between them...it just depends who you get...I imagine massage therapists at resorts tend to be a bit transient.) While I love a good massage and facial, other spa treatments (mud wraps, salt scrubs, and the like) don't do it for me. I get bored just lying there wrapped like a mummy listening to Enya.
I definitely want whoever is giving me a massage to put some muscle into it. When it is over, I don't necessarily want to feel like I just got out of a boxing ring...but I do want to feel a bit worked over. I don't get massages nearly often enough...so when I do go I am always told I am a bundle of knots. Part of me thinks I should just get a package at one of the massage chains and go every month. While I am sure you "get what you pay for" a mediocre massage would still be better than none at all.
 And I tip 20%.0

I am a massage therapist. Apparently I am a good one, I've never got a massage from myself though. I do aromatherapy but mix quite a bit of shiatsu into it.
Personally I like massages that work out the knots. I have yet to find anyone that can massage me though, so I tend to use the corner of a wall.2

So, are there any jobs openings for a non tech savvy foul mouthed yet sweet and likeable neighbor friend at your company?0

Really? No jokes about the size of the tip? Where IS @SabotageinStilettos anyway?0

I thought I would hate getting a massage, since I don't like strangers touching me overly much. I will punch a stranger in the junk if I have to. And I'd rather give a massage than get one. But I was offered a free massage after a marathon once and it was amazing! I don't know what it was called, but it was about 15 minutes long (which was perfect because I have a short "tolerance span" for procedures that keep me trapped in place for too long.) I'm a cheapskate though. I'll probably never have another massage unless it's free or some sugar daddy pays for it. 0 0

I get deep tissue massages every 2 weeks. It's mostly to keep me functional and flexible because I train a lot. But every couple of months I'll do a hot stone massage too.....it's pretty awesone.0

I bought a chiropractic package on Groupon which included a 1 hour massage in his office -- his therapist found some arthritis on worked the joints for me -- some of it was very painful at first but feels great once they are done. I ended up getting a second massage at the same office and had the same points checked from the first treatment and found that they were in good shape just from the first massage. I'd love to go to a sports massage place that's just a few blocks from my work but the cost keeps me from doing it.0

I've only had 3 massages in my life, and the 3rd one I just had last weekend at a local spa right down the street from my house. It was really nice. I got an 80 minute swedish-style massage, and tipped $20. I think this particular spa is pricier than others though. I'd love to go regularly, but for the 50 minute massage it's $100, $140 for 80 minutes. I don't know maybe that's average? I don't know enough about it.
In any case, it felt wonderful.0

Massages are nice...but I can't stand when the person giving the massage talks too much and asks too many questions the whole time.
When tipping, 15% used to be customary...now 20% is more the trend.0

I pay 65 for an hour.
