I can walk my dog without running out of breath and bend over to cut my toenail without getting the breath taken out of me.3
-
Being able to run up escalators to get that train!2
-
Boundless energy2
-
I only lost 20 something pounds but I have more energy. I used to have to take naps during the day. Now I go to bed at 8:30 or 9 because I am exhausted from exercise and get up at 5 am. No more naps.6

My blood pressure is in the normal range. My cholesterol has dropped. I no longer have that saggy puffy thing on the inside of my knees. My flexibility has improved.4
-
seriously loads and I have only dropped 18kg, I was only marginally overweight -
(1) nothing aches or twinges when I get up, sit down, walk down steep hills etc
(2) no longer get any acid reflux no matter what I eat or drink
(3) hills on the bike are a LOT easier or faster
(4) Sleep - loads better, solid sleep
(5) more comfortable when driving a car, nothing digs in like belts, seatbelts, trousers etc
(6) no lethargy after eating
(7) immune system rocks now ... I have had 2 colds in the last 2 years and I have a 6 year old tht brings everything home
(8) ease of getting up off the floor
(9) one legged pistol squats
(10) if I carry a rucksack and two massive bags of shopping back from the shop ... I only weigh the same as I did a year ago, so its effortless
(11) daily tasks are just tht much easier, from doing shoelaces up to putting stuff away in cupboards
The downsides
(1) Its cold outside ... I never got cold before
(2) I now need to try on clothes. I am sometimes a S sometimes a M some times a L ... I used to just be L or XL8 -
Energy! No more sluggishness! No more knee pain! No more back pain! Walk taller! No more sugar crashes!
There’s a lovely thread in “Success Stories”. It has about 25 thousand comments regarding non scale victories. I looooove going there when I need a little motivation.3 -
I fit comfortably into seats at the train, cinema etc
When the train is packed I can sit in the luggage rack without anything breaking
I can walk the mile and a half uphill to campus without straining my dodgy achilles
My dodgy achilles has become a lot less dodgy
Clothes are easier to find and cheaper (except for bras, sigh)
I can sit in more comfortable positions, such as legs crossed
People respond to me more positively3 -
I'm 150+lb down (more to go)
At my biggest I had to use a stick just to walk the length of a room. Now I can hike miles
I hike with my baby on my back, a baby I was told I could never have due to infertility, losing weight made his life possible
I can wear clothes I actually like instead of just what fits over me
I can run round the park after my boy, I even got on a slide at soft play with a friend's little boy (the guy wouldn't let me go down the slide since I was wearing a dress with nothing under)
Which is great since I no longer have to wear chub rub shorts at all times
If I enter the bus or cinema people no longer put bags on chairs next to them to stop me sitting close to them
I can place an order in a restaurant or fast food place without people sneering at my choice
Adult time is now a whole lot more fun, who knew recliners could take the weight of two people15 -
Oh yeah, acid reflux gone!!1
-
I can run with the kids I work with instead of just standing around and watching them play, I can lift 40+ pound kids without feeling like I'm going to injure something, and it's getting easier to lift kids out of cribs the more I lose from my chest.1

Love this thread!
I can buy clothes in any store now instead of just the fat lady store.
I can walk without my feet killing me.
I am no longer diabetic.
My blood pressure is normal.
I'm off all blood pressure/diabetic/acid reflux/water pill meds
I look forward to getting dressed up.
I can wear a dress without worrying about getting a rash between my thighs.
I can sleep on my back without feeling like I'm suffocating.
I don't feel like I'm using up more than my share of space (trains, busses and elevators)
I don't need a seatbelt extension on airplanes anymore.
I could go on............8 -

That is awesome.

Weight loss alone has had minimal impact to my day-to-day life except I'm more comfortable with my appearance in general. It's actually harder to find clothes in my size now because I've dropped off the bottom of the 'normal' size range.
However, I didn't lose weight to improve my day-to-day life. I did it to improve my life long-term and prevent future health problems. Also, if we talk about how exercise has improved my day-to-day life, I'd have more to say!0 -
It's easier to find flattering clothes.0

I mean, females are attracted to me now. I prefer what I see in the mirror now. And I get the therapy of the gym everyday. Other than that, not much difference.0

Confident. Making changes regarding school. Feel more self sure. Feel happier0

* Less joint pain.
* Increased general sense of well being (due to lower systemic inflammation, maybe?).
* Good cholesterol/triglycerides (formerly very bad).
* Normal blood pressure (formerly high).
* Easier to do daily life activities while carrying around 50+ fewer pounds.
* Reduced sleep apnea.
* Probably other stuff I'm forgetting, because it's been a couple of years since I hit maintenance.4 -
of course i am loving looking better and like my young self. But that's not changing my day to day life. it is the twinges, aches, and pains that go AWAY with healthy eating and weight loss that is amazing. That motivated me to stay on course more than looking better.0

Being able to walk into any shop and know things will fit.
Not worrying about being judged for what i eat when i am out.
Sitting in those crappy aluminium butt enclosing chairs and not feel squished.
Not being insecure on planes.
Not having thigh rash when i wear dresses in summer.
Many more but these will do.

Less computer and TV time (busy with stuff)
I like what I see in the mirror
Just a few3 -
I haven't had a lymphedema flare-up since a year ago January.
I had surgery to remove some malignant lesions in my bladder last November. After the fact, I Googled 'surgery complications obesity' and realized that had I been at my starting weight (BMI 45, Obesity level 3) instead of 'overweight', I could have been facing anything from longer recovery time to it not being safe to use general anesthetic, to possibly having the surgery pushed off until I lost some weight. (Note: It was non-invasive bladder cancer, which could turn invasive 7-8% of the time. So the surgery was done to avoid my being part of that 7-8%. But because that means 92-93% of the time, this sort of cancer doesn't spread, I could see the doctors saying that the surgery risks might outweigh the cancer risks at my previous weight. This is just me speculating, though.) Instead, they didn't even keep me overnight like they'd been planning and I felt mostly okay that same evening.
More energy.
Better clothes.7 -
I can bend down much more easily (help my young daughter wash her hair in the bath without feeling super uncomfortable). I went on an easy walk up to Yosemite Falls both before and after losing the weight, and I remembered how tough the walk felt before. I laughed after, thinking that it was nothing. Before I blamed how I felt on getting older. Now I know it was because I was getting fatter. I feel younger now. I've also started exercising regularly. After losing more weight, I felt more confident doing that. Most importantly, I went from being prediabetic to having normal blood sugar and from a doctor saying I needed cholesterol medicine to saying it was now fine.3
-
I started losing just to look more pleasing to myself and to buy clothes I liked better than fat girl clothes. I am smaller now but having a hard time finding clothes since sizes are more complicated and falsely marked than the "plus" sizes were! But I did find more stamina (helped I use an elliptical now, not as regular as I should though) and can walk without being out of breath, but also I have a chronic lung condition and I found quite unexpectedly that my pulmonary function test was significantly improved by my last 40 pounds of weight loss (60 total), something I didnt realize would happen! Bonus! Still working on about 20 more for vanity's sake1

My blood pressure is normal! I have more energy. I no longer have anxiety about clothes shopping (the thought of buying a dress for a wedding would make me upset months ahead of time. I've got a wedding to go to in October and I'm actually excited to dress shop!). I feel like I know so much more about food, and how this all works. I'm happier with myself and more confident. I learned that I love working out. My back pain that has plagued me since my many back surgeries is much more manageable. I could go on and on!!5
