Hi, I have been on and off MFP for a while and decided to count my cals again from a week ago and have been doing pretty well so far.
Would be good to have some MFP friends to support each other, if anyone is interested?
Also I have been dieting using protein shakes as replacement meals so calorie intake has been below 1000 - I've been told I must eat at least 1000, but wanted to hear other opinions?

Hi, I'm fairly new here too. I've already found lots of encouragement of this site. I'm afraid I can't help you too much with you 1000 calorie question. I've always heard that it can be very counterproductive to starve your body too much. You can start metabolize muscle and organ tissue, etc. when you do that. I'd be very careful. Just have patience and you'll reach your goal. For most of us, it took a long time to get to our current weight, and we should expect it to take a while to get back down to the weight the we need to be. Just hang in there and be consistent, and if you're having problems, just post, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses.
