User tip bb101: save lines on your mobile device
To use fewer lines on your mobile device food diary, create a ‘recipe for one’. For example, my morning coffee includes coffee, unsalted butter, coconut oil, and cinnamon. If I enter it as individual foods or as a meal, it uses 4 lines. So I created a recipe for one serving and named it ‘coffee, uns butter, coconut oil, cinnamon’. I included all 4 ingredients in the recipe. It now uses just one line in my food diary.

User tip bb102: add a new food while offline.
To add a new food while offline, try creating a recipe. MFP apparently downloads a database onto our devices that includes foods that we have not used. So I create a new recipe, search for a food, and select one that is close to the one I want to add. Not perfect, but it does work. Try it with ‘pizza’. One tradeoff, an MFP recipe requires at least 2 ingredients so I add a phantom/ghost ingredient that has no calories or nutrition data. On my device, I use ‘artesian water’ from Fiji.
