or maybe an NSV? My kids love bagels, so they are usually in the house. Well it's been months since I had one. Normally I can't stop at eating just one, have to have two, with loads of butter and maybe some cinnamon-sugar. But today, I really wanted one....soooo I only had half w/ just a bit of butter on it. It was good, but then I put the package away. Done...at just a half. It was good, but I was satisfied. Who knew?? And of course I logged it into my diary!! Go me!!! ;)

    NICE! Good job!
Having self control is sooooo hard. But it does get easier.
    Keep it up, girl! :D

Great job on keeping it to half a bagel!!! Will power is a hard thing to manage and is a key component to weight loss-I am ever struggling with it!

Have you heard of Bagel Thins? One whole bagel is 110 calories. And they come in whole grain varieties as well. I LOVE them but don't indulge too often!
  • GO YOU!!
  • Great willpower there, well done!

Awesome! It's great when you're able to use willpower to overcome things like that. I have terrible willpower and cannot have any junk in the house. I'm getting better though.

Don't mean to be insensitive or anything, but genuinely curious:
You seem to understand that bagels make you gain weight and are unhealthy for you. Why would you keep buying them for your kids? Surely there are other things they enjoy eating?

I started buying bagels awhile back for my son to pack for school. He's a teenager on the cross country team, and is out the door by 5:45am for practice. He wasn't eating breakfast, so I packed it so he could eat after practice. They also eat fruits, nuts and other somewhat healthy snacks. I have 3 sons who eat me out of house and home! It's hard sometimes to come up with a variety and stay in a budget.
  • Indeed! GO YOU!!! :)

I remember my first "control yourself" moment. It involved chocolate and I was so proud... and, yes, satisfied too!

Fair enough! I didn't mean to judge. I was just curious. (I don't have kids yet)

It truly is one small decision after another that end up making a HUGE difference. Good job! I did the same thing with cookies that I baked for a friend's birthday yesterday. Two cookies, savored tiny bite after tiny bite and then I was done and completely satisfied. I also had no guilt about indulging myself since I stayed within my calorie limits and did a good workout yesterday. That was a big victory for me.
