Anyone else find running to help with their Anxiety? Looking to see if this will benefit me in more than just weight loss.

It absolutely helps mine; I run more to relieve stress and anxiety than I do for weight loss1

It has mental health benefits for me. I tend to get into a meditative state when I've been running for a while...or, if it's a hard run, I literally can't think of anything except how much farther I have to go. Either way, I think it helps. Maybe it will have similar benefits for you, maybe not, but I think it's worth a try if you're interested. I highly recommend using a C25K program if you're just starting to run.1

Running is my stress management. No other exercise relaxes me the way running does. If you haven't previously run make sure you get fitted for proper shoes at a running store and start with a program like C25K.1

Personally yeah it really does. Weightlifting more so but running too. I didn't notice it so much as I went for a run then immediately felt relaxed, it was more like if I didn't go to the gym for a few days I would notice my anxiety would start to play up when it had been manageable for a while (when I was exercising more).
It's very personal tho, nobody's anxiety is the same but there's certainly a chance it will help0 -
I am the complete opposite ... I want to run, but get really anxious about getting changed and starting .... so normally opt for my safteyzone and cycle/row/gym instead. ... tomorrow lunch I have in diary "run" .... bets on me being on the bike ?0

Absolutely. Running keeps me (relatively) sane.0

I'm not much of a runner. But I do like really long walks outdoors. (Curse you winter!)
I find it relaxing, I get to think clearly, sometimes just space off and just walk. It's much like free therapy.
Though I probably need anger management sometimes because rude drivers piss me off.
Spell check, pfft.1 -
Yep, when I'm not running my wife says she totally notices.0

Yes!!!!! And when I don’t do it for a while I find myself getting shorter temper and overall more stressed. It’s a great way to balance your brain chemicals.0

I've only been consistently running for a few weeks. I've noticed a significant change in my overall mental health. It's been a positive way for me to release stress.0

Thinking about running gives me anxiety.0

I run about 2500 miles a year - running can help. Running can also lead to anxiety but can also be avoided. Big races and marathons can lead to anxiety )for instance public places, large crowds can be one of my triggers). Sometimes, I have to run without a watch or garmin so I dont feel the pressure of pace or performance or distance. Sp if you know what some of your triggers are, and they can be avoided for runs, then absolutely, it can be outstanding.0
