Trying to gain weight (forreal this time!!!)

Hey everyone!
I'm Abi (short for Abilene not Abigail haha) and I'm trying to gain weight.... Forreal this time!
Since I've graduated high school, I've lost weight due to my career (I'm a vet tech), and I have developed a poor appetite...I've *kinda* tried gaining weight by just trying to eat more but it's really hard and would just give up.
I'm really serious about it.... I'm down to 89 and that is NOT GOOD! and it's also been messing with my confidence. So I downloaded this app to keep track of my calories to remind myself I just need to eat more..... My goal is to eat healthier while still gain weight. I know it's recommended to lift weights but I don't really want to do that, right now I am hoping to just be able to start eating more.
Like I said, I am a vet tech and my job keeps me pretty active. I also skateboard and that's pretty active as well.
Anyways, hoping to make new friends with the same goal of gaining weight, share tips, recipes, etc. Etc. And help keep motivated! Thanks for dropping in

Hi there!
For weight gain, you must be at a calorie surplus. It sounds like you have a pretty active job. I would preplan calorie dense foods and snacks to bring with you to work. When I need more calories,I keep a jar of peanut butter and a spoon in my lunch box. If your able to add on about 10 spoonfuls throughout the day then you will have added on about 1000 calories to your day. I eat my normal meals and snacks and then add on with the peanut butter to bring my calories up. I also make high calorie protein shakes. I add in 2 scoops with a banana, whole milk, and 5 spoons of peanut butter for a shake that is about 1000 calories. ( Obviously do not do this if you have a peanut allergy!)
Maybe start by googling a list of calorie dense foods and buy the ones you like. Print the list and eat away !2 -
Hi
Congrats on deciding to do something positive for your health! I admit, I don't have any problem eating enough to gain weight myself..
Have you tried pre-logging your meals so you know you're getting enough calories? If you're busy, consider adding a calorific drink you can have even if there's no time for a meal. Perhaps set an alarm at intervals during the day to remind you to eat. Pick calorie dense foods over low calorie options.
You mention eating healthier to gain, and not lifting weights. I would really recommend lifting asap as you eat in a surplus - this will enable you to put on muscle (and fat), not just fat. Unfortunately without the lifting, what you will gain will be fat, regardless of how "healthy" your food choices are.2 -
Thanks for your input! Yesterday was the first day I actually logged everything that I ate and first time I took in about 2500 calories in...... Probably ever lol!!!
I went to the store and bought various snacks, definitely wanting to get drinks in too. I've also been looking at calorie dense foods0 -

Thanks for replying! Monday I went to the store and bought various healthy snacks that are calorie dense and I'm so excited! Nature Valley has a protein bar that contains 290 calories which I have been eating in the morning with a glass of oj.
I never thought about the peanut butter like that, there are tons of jars at work for the dogs I need one for myself too lol!!!!
Will definitely do that and thank you for the simple protein shake recipe!!!1 -
