Polar HRM's

I have 2 Polar FT40's. One is mine and one is my gf's.
When we first got them they were reading each others heart rate. So Polar replaced both chest straps and transmitters.
Fast Forward from Feb to Aug. Now when I my HRM is off. It has been saying my Max HR is 209-229. I know that is false b/c I usually only get up to 160's max. The other thing it does is take awhile to pick up my HR or doesn't at all and I have to re-start it a few times.
Anyone else with these problems or suggestions?

I have an FT7 but never had this problem. My boyfriend has one too. Sorry, hope you find an answer!0

Mine has been awesome (purchased last month), if I were you I'd contact them again.0

I have an FT4 and it's not rare that it gives me obviously inaccurate readings (either 0 or in the 200's). I wash it according to the instructions on the website (it's better since I started going that after EACH workout) and it's tight and I keep re-wetting the sensors... I wrote an email to the Polar Guy but didn't get a response. So...good luck with yours!0

Could it be low batteries?0

I hate to have to contact them and send it off again. I use it 5 days a week for hour at a time. I0

if its not the batteries, then try this
really wet/soak the 2 pads right before use.
make sure the strap is really tight.
Wash in hot water after your workout, really scrub the pads.0 -
FT7 here and no problems. The FT4 can get interfered (sp?) with on other machines or HRM's. Thats the main reason I got the FT7. Regardless, if its reading 220+ HR, then its time to return it or get a new battery IMO...0
