Whenever I am operating within (or even 200 or 300 over) my calorie goals I am ridiculously sleepy! I have to take little naps at my desk at work and immediately when I get home from work. I am typically a hard-working and energetic person but even coffee can't open my eyes when I am on the losing path. As soon as I start eating a "gaining or maintaining" amount, my energy comes back. Is this normal?

Have you tried tracking your blood sugars? Maybe they are doing something crazy when you eat less that makes you sleepier?0

It can happen. If you play with your macros you might find a split that works better for you as far as fatigue. You could also consider decreasing the size of your deficit0
