Tiredness

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! I have an almost 1 yr old and am now back at work full time. I'm really struggling on some days with being tired (baby's going through a bad patch sleep-wise) and finding the energy and motivation to exercise and eat well. I know reaching for the junk food doesn't help in the long run, but it's difficult to resist sometimes when it's on offer and as a result I'm stuck gaining a few pounds per week and then losing them and not making any progress with my weight loss. Anyone in similar position or equally worn out and have any tips?

To avoid eating junkfood meal prep healthy options im advance. Each week you can cook some meals in advance adn keep in the fridge. Also you could freeze some extra. This way if you are to tired to cook you can just take from the fridge ready to warm up.

I've been there. It's a tough place to be. Believe me, I know exactly what your going through. My son went through a rough sleeping patch for a while ( he didn't sleep through the night until he was 3!) I was exhausted and lost all motivation. Being overly tired was like torture. I could barely keep my eyes open at work and it was hard to resist the cakes and pies at that point.
The good news is that once my son started to sleep through the night, things started to even out. When I was getting a full nights sleep,I started to feel better. Once I felt better, I had more energy.
While I can't offer you any helpful advice about the baby not sleeping ,I can tell you that things will get better in time.
I'm one of those people who doesn't give advice that I can't take myself. I was unable to sleep train my kids so therefore I'm not going to try to give you any tips on the subject. Maybe your pediatrician has some ideas though.
Things will get better though. Hang in there, I know it's tough. Keep logging onto mfp and try to log your foods. Even if you don't have enough energy to workout, just log your foods and create a calorie deficit ( when your able to)
Remember that weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. As long as your at a deficit, you'll lose weight. It makes no difference if you created that deficit while eating 1500 calories of cake or 1500 calories of carrots for weight loss. ( Obviously health matters and I wouldn't suggest a diet of cake, I was just giving an example)
    You'll get there eventually!

I'm tired as h*ll. I have two kids under two and work 40 hours a week outside the home. My 8 month old is starting to sleep better so I'm getting a bit of a break there but overall I'm exhausted. I plan my work outs at 5 a.m. before the rest of the house is up. I am doing a c25k plan at the moment three days a week. I wake up and get dressed and do my thing for 30 minutes in the neighborhood. My husband is a HUGE help b/c we switch off every other night taking care of the baby if he wakes and we share duties in the morning as far as getting kids ready for daycare. As they get older it definitely gets easier and sleep should come more readily.
you can add me if you want. I log daily and am supportive of the friends I have on this site.

p.s. I am constantly bombarded at work with temptation. My only way to avoid it is to pre-log everything I eat in the mornings. that way I know how much room I've got if I want a snack or for how long I need to walk in the afternoon to burn off any extra calories. I also do meal prep and that helps too... knowing what I'm eating and having it ready and waiting is a must for me. Otherwise, I make choices that don't fit into my healthy plan.

Thanks for the tips and support. @Rose18I I agree, planning is definitely key, @100_PROOF_ it helps so much to know others have come through the other side and thanks for the non-judgy response and @amgreenwell I can't imagine how tired you must be right now - you're doing great just to make it to work and prepare anything! xx
