How many calories do you burn shovelling snow?

I just worked on the driveway for an hour... and it's only half done. I needed a break, my back kills and my hands are numb, lol. What's a comparable activity to shovelling snow so I can log my activity?

I think there is an exercise listed as shoveling, should give you calories burned.
  • I use this: http://www.caloriecontrol.org/exercalc.html
I have found that its closer to actual calories burned on my treadmill than what is listed here.
If you cant find anything there, just do a search for exercise calculator :flowerforyou:

I can't find it in there. Hmmmm

I just tried entering it as lawn mowing, general.... seems comparable right? but my 2 hours will come out to 748 cals burned :noway: LOL so that must be quite the overestimate.

This winter I shoveled over a foot of snow out of my driveway while wearing my Polar F6. It calculated 660 calories for me so I think the estimates you found are probably very close.:drinker:

ok guys. yowwwwwwwwwwwza, 110 minutes of shovelling.... du-du-nu-nu!!!! 686 calories burned. Plus I did a good deed by shovelling out our neighbor (she's 60 and would have tried to do it herself but these snowdrifts were about 3 ft deep in some places :noway: . lol so now we are both shovelled out. Can't wait til Brian sees it! I NEVER shovel, he'll be shocked! :flowerforyou:

yoga is iffy, it depends on what type of yoga. Most yoga doesn't burn much though, it's more for toning and flexibility.
