Weekly goal question.

hello! I just started on my journey for weight loss at the very end of January. Im a 35 yr old female who is 4'11. Im on a 1200 calorie diet. (what mfp suggested) My starting weight was 171.6 lbs and my current weight is 157.2. I have my weekly goal set on -1.5 lbs a week. Is that too much or just about right? Oh and I usually walk for 30-45 min 4x a week. I make sure to eat half if not all my exercise calories back. Thank you! Still trying to get the hang of this.

At your height, 1.5 is probably fine for now. As you get closer to goal weight, it will slow down. As you get closer to goal, you may want to see a dietician to make sure you get proper nutrition.1

Sine 1200 calories is the minimum it will give you, it's highly likely that the goal you chose is too aggressive. And that's more because you're short than anything. Look at it this way: to lose 1.5 pounds a week, you need a daily deficit of 750 calories. This means that at most you're burning 1950 calories a day before exercise.
I would change the goal to a pound a week. It probably won't give you much more, but it will give you some wiggle room if you reach a point where you aren't losing and can drop the calories.1 -
If you struggle at all with that calorie allowance, back down to 1 pound. A sustainable diet is the key.3

With six weeks of data, it would be a good idea to stop basing your calorie goal on the number MFP tells you and to start adjusting it based on your results. Your goal is 1.5 lbs a week, but your results are 2.4 lbs a week. Was most of that lost in the first couple of weeks, or are you still losing 2 lbs a week or more? If so, you should eat more.2

Hello! Correct, most of my lost weight was at the beginning. The past 2 weeks, I’ve noticed I’m losing about 1 pound a week now.
