I've torn down and rebuilt my food and exersize habits and I have lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks now I'm finding myself worring about loosing too much to fast and what I can do when I do reach my goal weight to maintain it?

Congratulations on losing! I know what you mean though, it can get a little scary, especially when the weight drops so quickly. What I find helpful is asking myself "Is what I am currently doing (exercise, total calories, etc) something that I can see myself sticking to for years, or am I holding on for dear life?" I have dieted before where I felt like while the results were great, I couldn't imagine keeping up that pace for long. That is my warning sign for me. I have lost quite a bit lately and that makes me happy but also I feel really in control and like this is a plan for the rest of my life. The thought of living like this doesn't send me into a panic.

Who knows? Maybe you'll plateau soon, and then the question will be moot

Im sure the weigh loss will slow a bit down to 1-2 pounds per week... if it still seems to be too much just bump up your calories some & decrease excercise...it takes time to figure out what will work best for you...and a lot of experimenting with calories, carbs, proteins & excercise.

GREAT POINT when you say, "Is what I am currently doing (exercise, total calories, etc) something that I can see myself sticking to for years, or am I holding on for dear life?" That is the most important thing here isn't it?

The calculators here will help you maintain too once you've lost all your weight and just want to maintain!

22 pounds in 6 weeks is great, but keep in mind that, as difficult as it seems, it's better in the long run to lose less (1-2 pounds a week) per week than more. ALL of the research shows that you have a better chance of keeping that weight off in the long run for a longer period of time. People who drop pounds fast tend to gain much, all, or more back eventually. The reason? If you're losing more than 1-2 pounds per week, odds are it's because you're "dieting", meaning, cutting calories and upping excercise... for the time being.... as opposed to basically changing your lifestyle and learning moderation. A good nutritionalist and/or personal trainer/exercise physiologist will tell you that the best diet is one that you change for life. That's why the 1-2 pounds per week makes more sense because it's a sign that you've made small enough changes, aren't starving yourself, and you're learning new habits. If you drastically cut calories and drastically up the exercise, ask yourself just how long you'll be able to keep this up for. Sure, you may be losing 3-4 pounds per week and be motivated now and be loving it... but what happens when you're worn down and just tired from it? Will you know how to go back to a life where you eat and exercise in moderation? Either way, you deserve a big congrats on the amazing weight loss, though! you're obviously working hard and are very committed!

That is exactly what I have been telling myself however I eat all of my on my calories on a daily basis plus my exersize calories. I only workout for an hour 3 times a week I stopped playing on the wii fit to cut back on exersize but it hasn't seemed to effect my weight loss:huh: The olny thing i can think of is that i did change a lot of poor eating habits and no exersize at once . Thanks for the advice everyone:happy:

Hmmmm... I wouldn't worry too much then.
If you've taken measures to slow and are still consistently losing....that's okay.
**** Maybe by sending this....some of your good luck will rub off on me!

Don't worry, it'll slow down on its own. I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks, and its taken 50 to get the next 23 off.
