Calorie Discrepancy

I am trying to understand why my gf had walked 4000 more steps than I have but has burned roughly half the calories as me according to MFP. I work a desk job and have my setting as sedentary and she is a teacher and has hers set as lightly active. I have walked a total 8000 steps and burned 800 calories, she has walked 12000 steps and has burned 400 calories. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thank you!

    1. Her activity level includes more steps
    2. As a male you tend to burn more than us women

But there are other factors that we don’t know about, such as how much each of you has to lose

We are both attempting to lose 10 lbs at this point.

You have a different weight, height, sex, age, and amounts of lean and fat mass that you're carrying.

Your nutritional needs are slightly different and your caloric burns for the same or similar activity are not the same.

I am sitting at a not super exciting parking lot. So forgive the choices and substitute your own.

But, for now, just imagine your girl friend as a shiny red Honda Fit, and yourself as a shiny Mercedes SL550. You both get to drive downtown and both of you will make it in 45 minutes. But one of you will use more fuel to make it there
