I have PCOS and have lost 22 lbs since January 1st 2018. Not a total success story yet, since I still have about 80 more lbs to lose until I’m in the upper normal BMI range. But, I feel like it’s been a success because I tried for several years to lose weight on calorie counting alone, (not Keto) and I was exercising regularly. My doctor and I discovered I had undiagnosed/untreated sleep apnea, and that may be why the weight was not budging, and why my blood pressure was skyrocketing. I have been on a medically supervised ketogenic diet and been very compliant with it and using my cpap machine. I don’t exercise as much as I’d like, mostly due to being an RN student. I barely have time for anything but studying! Even so, I’ve been losing pretty steadily. I can’t speak for every PCOS girl, but for me, keeping those insulin levels in check, and getting adequate rest so my body and muscles can actually work has been key. So far so good. So it’s possible! It’s harder for us, but it can happen if you’re determined!10

Yup. Lost 110 pounds were not much different thn people without dont let the overhyped overstated info scare you. I seriously believe alot of people use it as an excuse. Its just a small additional number in the math equation, Math is still math. System still works. Fyi i didnt go low carb or anything which alot of people claim we have to, Including my doc who no longer recommends that to others14

The only way I have been able to lose weight so far is going low carb. I’m still early in my journey, but other diets didn’t help me at all. I even gained weight when I tried weight watchers!3

I have PCOS and I've only lost 2 lbs since January 2018. But with that being said, my bmr is lower than normal and I only have 25lbs to lose. My goal weight is 130lbs. There's a study which said that women with PCOS can burn upto 700 less calories than normal women. This is a real eye opener for me as I was eating according to the normal calculators and they over estimated my calories! Now I'm going to calorie/carb cycle after my holiday with an average of 1400 calories, whereas before I was eating 1800-2000 calories. I've been reading on other forums like Reddit that some women have had to go down to 900 calories to lose weight. I don't want to go there so would rather exercise more and be more active.4

Hi there! Welcome! I, too, have PCOS. I've been on a LCHF diet since 27 June 2017, and have lost 83 lbs so far. I'm halfway to my goal. I started out with similar numbers to yours, and my ultimate goal weight is 150 (I'm 5'6"). I've tried a myriad of approaches to weight loss over the years. I've lost and gained the same 30-50+ pounds for the last 10 years. Keto is working better for me than any other approach to date. I'm satisfied, not hungry, and feeling great! I'm not one to push my diet on anyone, nor will I tell you it's the only way to go. It's what has worked for me, and I'm happy with it for the long-term. Try a few things out with the idea that you can maintain the approach for the long-term, and do what feels best to you. Best of luck; you've got this!9

I have pcos. My starting weight was 317lbs. I got down to 253lbs. Lost a little over 60lbs (with help on weight watchers). This past November I found out that my boyfriend and I are expecting our first child, so I had to put my weight loss on hold.4

Hi guys!! I also have pcos, when I use to take metformin I maintained 183lbs for a couple years. Since I had my son who is now 3 and no longer take metformin (on birth control) I've been pretty much stuck at 212lbs, if I do a juice diet I'll go down to 200lbs but once I start back eating, you know the rest. Joined the gym this Monday and trying to do Zumba classes 4 times a week, and not eat rice or flour. Hopefully I lose some.1

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism. I started at 181lbs (I’m 5’3) and got down to 128lbs last summer after about a year of MFP. Then I moved to Rome and put on 30lbs, and I’m in the process of losing that again and getting to my untimate goal weight of 115-120lbs.1

Everyone with PCOS is different. It still comes down to calorie deficits for weight loss. That being said I do low carb (which means 150g or less) and have found when I do not only is weight management easier my symptoms are also less. Exercise is key in helping with weight loss too. Resistance/weight training are also beneficial https://breakingmuscle.com/fitness/take-charge-of-polycystic-ovarian-syndrome-with-strength-training2

PCOS here too. As said already, it’s all about the calories. Keep logging your food and believe in the process. It won’t happen overnight. I lowered my A1C, cholesterol level and i am no longer on any medication. Here is before and after:
I am now at 212 lbs.
