I’m doing a six weight loss challenge, and I am half way through. The prize is $500 and I really want to win. Does anyone have suggestions as to what I should eat the day or a few days before final weigh in?

How much have you lost so far? and what are you aiming for in that short time period apart from the prize money?

Go easy on sodium and carbs a few days before, that will mean your body will let go of more water weight and you will weigh less.

Ideally, nothing... doesn't seem worth $500 to me!

    Low carb will also help

So far I have lost about 10 pounds. I’m aiming for another 10-12.

I want the prize money to go shopping after reaching my goal weight

So you've lost 10lbs in 3 weeks!! I really hope you have a heck of a LOT of weight to lose, if not doing this challenge is really unwise. You won't lose another 10-12lbs in 3 weeks that would be unhealthy. Weight loss slows off and that's perfectly normal after the initial water weight loss.

I despise these types of challenges.

Unhealthy weight loss rates are bad. Rewarding bad is bad. I realize that the morbidly obese can have higher weight loss rates and not necessarily suffer ill effects, but this type of thing rewards the kind of behavior that can lead to unhealthy results.

That said, a six week time window probably won't do too much harm - and it really will be more of a water weight loss competition and less a fat weight loss competition. I just hate the idea of encouraging an unhealthy approach.

    /end rant.

Low to no carb, watch the sodium and don't expect the weight to stay off once you go back to eating carbs. But like @silentpadna says, it's a game to see who can lose the most water weight and not a healthy, long-term weight loss plan.

But it's $500 and a short time frame.
