Risk of injury???

I started working out at home. I don't have weights so I utilized my niece's weight. I held her while doing squats, sumo squats and lunges. Then I had her sit on each foot while I did leg lifts. She is 38lbs. Is it okay to do this or does it mess up form and hurt more than help??? I definitely feel the muscles in my legs, butt and stomach. Just don't want any injuries that may delay working out.

    It is OK if you can maintain form, meaning that your core is strong enough to protect you. There are even baby/toddler workout videos, meaning that you workout holding the kid, not that the kid is working out.

    If your form is fine, you're good to go. If you're unsure of your form, video yourself doing them. If you're still unsure, post them here for the trainers to look at.

    Don't forget to do pushing, pulling, and overhead lifts. :+1:

    Check your ceiling height if you still use your niece for overheads, tho :D

    just my experience, but basically any weight that's too heavy for your current capacity is going to affect your form. whether a giggly unstable 38lbs is too heavy for your capacity though . . . that's pretty hard to guess at via the internet.

    make sure you take rest days. and again just my experience, but i kind of measure how much 'not quite over the last workout yet' is too much by the time the next one comes up. it's okay to still be a little bit sore/whatever. but imo you shoudln't be doing more than whatever you can about 75% recover from in 24-48 hours of rest.

    it's all about whether you're accumulating a 'rest deficit' or staying just on teh right side of that, for me.

    She lives with me so she will be around. She enjoys it. She even tries to plank with me and push ups even though only her rear end goes back up.
