over 70, anyone else struggling?

I'm getting bigger instead of smaller but I do keep trying to get back into my smaller size clothes. my sister said I should throw out all my size 12s and buy new (14/16s) but I really don't want to do that. Is it harder being in your 70's?

If weightloss is harder when you get older, it's because your habits have had longer time to become ingrained - you're just eating more/moving less than when you were younger. It's perfectly normal (as in usual, and as in natural cause-effect), but not unavoidable. There are plenty of skinny elderly people.
Use your food diary, log your food intake, find an activity you like. Weight management doesn't have to be a struggle. Welcome to MFP!2 -

I am not 70, but I have had the privilege of watching my mom really get into fitness the past two years. She’s 71, and has taken to running an hour every day (4-5 miles) and easily is way stronger and has more running power than I ever will
She did not start out by running though, she started out by walking and hiking and built up to it. Driving along one day I saw a runner who was making a good clip and thought that’d be really hard, nearly crashed when I realized it was my mom!
She does say that she has a little more trouble building muscle/definition but moral of the story; decide what you want to do and give it time. These things don’t happen overnight not even for 20 year olds! And not even for 30 year olds! ( case in point, my mom has beat me in the fitness success category!!!)
