Vegan, so take or leave what I offer up.

Most of my groceries are either produce or frozen veggies. Typical buys in produce are cucumbers, peppers, celery, carrots, onions, spinach and/or kale, potatoes (white and sweet), some kind of citrus, bananas, maybe some berries: I’m picky about quality of fruit, I particular, and some normal stuff I can’t eat, so I tend to go the same old stand bys until I can buy from local farms. I may grab an avocado or two and sometimes I buy tomatoes, but usually regret it unless they are local and in season. Depending on what I’m in the mood for, I may grab squash, Brussel sprouts (have some right now I need to roast up), or whatever seems interesting.

Frozen stuff is all sorts of things. Always peas (peas are life), and usually frozen berries for smoothies.

I also get pasta, rice, quinoa, occasionally couscous. Depending on the store I may swing through the bulk section for seeds and nuts. I will grab a couple of cans of Amy’s soup if I’m feeling lazy, usually some olives. Usually a pack or two of tofu and maybe some seitan or seitan based products. ALWAYS hummus and peanut butter. Depending on my current eating pattern and where I’m shopping, I may grab some vegan junk or vegan cheese (Follow Your Heart is AMAZING! And a girl may not want to kill critters, but she still occasionally needs a grilled cheese!). Depending on the store, a vegan cookie or donut from the bakery as a way of congratulating myself for going to the store (I hate shopping).

Always look forward to growing season so I can buy more local and fresh stuff. Nothing like in season tomatoes, berries, and melons!

Mine is pretty basic and I plan our menus a week at a time. There a few things I make a lot, but we to change it up to keep things balanced and interesting. I always keep these thins on hand:

    Brown rice
    frozen mixed veggies
    cauliflower rice
    Broccoli
    Bananas
    Oats
    Peanutbutter
    whole grain bread
    zuchinni
    ground turkey
    chicken breast
    chicken drumsticks
    turkey sausage
    black beans
    corn
    coffee
    english muffins
    almond milk
    eggs
    salsa
    sweet potatoes
    various cheeses

The list changes from week to week, but those are almost always in the house. I find I can mix and match to make lots of quick easy, meals. I make often throw chicken breast in the crock pot with salsa and shred it. We also do whole chicken breast or ground turkey patties on our george foreman a lot. A protein with a side of veggies and a carb is an easy meal. We're also big fans of chili and rice stir fry.

For breakfast and lunch we either eat left overs or mix and match from the ingredients above.

My total grocery list is vast, but as far as fruits and veg I typically have these on my list:

    - baby carrots
    - apples
    - romaine
    - kale
    - bags of frozen fruit; my husband likes smoothies and my son just eats them for snacks. It's usually mixed berries but lately I've been buying frozen peaches because *I* like them. You can get them at Dollar Tree, too.
    - cabbage
    - celery
    - seasonal produce of my choice

I don't pretend that these are "superfoods". I buy them because we like them.

Outside of the Kale and cabbage (although I do bags of coleslaw), list looks good to me as well. Add Snap peas and bananas to it and it could be mine.

Something important like shampoo, something for dinner and bread
Other important things I see while I'm there,
Milk, soap, salad fixings, disposable silverware, papertowels.
Random stuff that I reslly don't need.
Forget the shampoo, and probably the bread.

Here are the items I like to have on hand at the house:

    Fresh Fruit-
    Bananas
    Apples
    Strawberries & other berries
    Green Grapes
    Seasonal fruit on sale

(I rarely buy canned fruits or apple sauce, most are loaded with sugar.)

    Veggies-
    Spinach
    Broccoli & Cauliflower
    Asparagus
Carrots (not baby carrots, they are typically bleached of their nutritional value, look it up!)
    Onion
Avocados & Tomatoes (technically fruit, I know!)
    Green beans (fresh or canned)

    Grains-
    Brown rice
    Whole wheat tortillas
Whole wheat sandwich thins or bread (at least 3g fiber)

    Protein-
    Chicken
    Ground turkey
    Turkey sausage
    Pork loin
Canned or dried beans, low sodium

(Every now and then I buy beef, but if it's ground I stick with turkey)

    Fats-
    Peanut butter
    Cheese sticks (portion control!)
    Trail mix, peanuts, cashews
If I buy a treat, it's small. I try not to keep treats at home or I will be sure to eat them all! :)

I hope this is helpful! Good luck!
