Hi everyone. I don’t know what I’m doing but I too want to do the Keto lifestyle. It’s a little confusing.

Why do you want to do this?
What do you find confusing?1 -
I’ve been trying keto with intermittent fasting and I find that it’s something I can finally stick to.0

Eat meat, cheese, mayo, lots of omelettes and drink plenty of water.
I used to enjoy the keto lifestyle... steak and mayo/mustard dip for dinner and veggie omelettes for breakfast, how I miss those days.
Started at 307 and stopped around 165, for 10 months. However, I also worked out daily like a slave (About an hour every day)
You will catch a lot of hate for speaking keto. Diets and WOE are like religion, there's no one perfect way. Choose whats right for you and don't give up.0 -
hi there. first, congrats by choosing keto you may have made the best decision of your life!! second, find and join the reddit keto community. facebook keto groups...are quite awful, full of misinformation, and the members are whack. (sorry!) the reddit keto peeps are full of positive support and well researched answers to your questions. third, read the FAQ on r/keto on reddit. like 5 times over. fourth, use the keto calculator for your macros (calories, protein, fat, carbs <20g) in the FAQ/keto in a nutshell. then, input your info into mfp.
buy a food scale and weigh every single morsel, it will keep you focused on what to/not to eat especially for the first few months. log everything into mfp BEFORE you eat it, it will keep you on track and not have a OMG moment after you ate too much this or that.
There is a ton of great resources for meal ideas - ketoconnect, ruled.me, ibih, peaceloveandlowcarb, a bunch more but that should get you started.
Search #keto on insta - for some crazy keto foodporn.
and, then find keto members here on mfp, and friend them. when you are stuck for a meal, or just curious about what others actually eat, check out their diaries, see what they are logging.
and, about IF. some say, wait until you are more comfortable with how you are reacting to your new way of eating before introducing fasting. personally, for the most part i only ate once a day, which was usually dinner before keto so it was a natural progression for myself to OMAD. but i did not start tracking (app, vora*) my own IF until about 6-8 weeks into keto. There is a subreddit group for IF, a decent fasting group, but not necessarily keto on facebook - Dr. Jason Fung. and then just let your body tell you what/when it needs.
*Vora Fasting App - which i am not too keen with, anyone have any other app suggestions, i am all ears.0
